Audio Active Investing In Industry As It Opens New Training Facilities

At its state-of-the-art new facilities in Port Melbourne last week, established-distributor Audio Active officially opened the doors to dealers and press for what marks a new chapter for the highly regarded company.

The Audio Active story begins with being a traditional importer and distributor of world-class brands including Paradigm, Anthem, Martin Logan, Luxman, Vienna Acoustics, Tannoy and others, along with local distribution of Sony's TV and projector range. But where tradition ends and the future begins, according to the company, is what separates Audio Active from its competitors.

The purpose-built headquarters for Audio Active serves many purposes. While logistics and warehousing are outsourced to leading experts in the field, the new space is occupied by the company's sales, support and servicing staff, along with providing training and demonstration facilities.

Jeremy Bouris

As the company approached its tenth anniversary in business, Audio Active's founder and Managing Director, Jeremy Bouris, saw an opportunity to take the company to a new level. Together with Bruce Thierbach, General Manager Sales & Marketing, they analysed the industry in Australia and recognised that being a commercial partner to specialists dealer is more than just supplying brands and distributing price lists.

In their words, the opportunity existed to offer far more to their dealers, particularly the oft-overlooked and much-needed design and training services that specialist dealers require more than ever.

Audio Active's entire mezzanine level has been fitted out as dedicated showrooms, each designed for two-channel stereo, custom installation and integration, automation, and of course the pinnacle of Audio Active's offer today, home cinema.

Bruce Thierbach told attendees:

The Australian channel for audio and visual is evolving rapidly. What was once only a luxury that the wealthy could afford, consumers are placing importance on entertainment at home now more than ever. They want to come home from a hard day at work, press a few buttons on their smartphone, and be immersed in technology and the experience, and forget the world around them for a few hours.

Audio Active explained that as a company, it has been in a transition period over the last 18 months that has seen them refine their brand and product lineup so that it is well-placed to deliver the right solution for its customers. Its future-vision has also seen the recent appointment of key staff to deliver on its promise. Paul Mclean is considered an expert in integration, cinema and acoustics design and has been responsible for countless award-winning installations within Australia. Paul will be available to Audio Active dealers to assist in the design and execution stages of custom and cinema installations.

Thierbach continued:

Audio Active now has the right lineup - from our brand partners and suppliers to our logistics, support and design staff, right through to marketing and third-party partners. We are now focused on delivering the best experience to the consumer and every step of the process being enjoyable, for the perfect result at the end of the day.

Specialist retailers have access to Audio Active's demonstration facilities as well as regularly planned training events.

Our dealers can bring their customers into our showroom and take them on a journey from product selection, room design, and enjoy demonstration in our world-class cinema featuring the latest technology.

Chatting with Bouris, his passion that will surely see Audio Active's success for the next decade is apparent. "We wanted to invest back into the industry that we all love and work within. It would be easy to outsource more of the company and continue to collect orders while remaining profitable." But Bouris has other ideas and is committed to reinvesting back into what he believes is an industry with a promising future.

One thing is for sure, Audio Active's new facilities are impressive and if that's any indication of the company's outlook, the next decade certainly does look bright.

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
