Interdyn Brands Consolidates Distribution Portfolio

One of the most iconic and founding companies of the Australian hi-fi industry, Interdyn, has decided to consolidate its portfolio of distributed brands with a renewed focus on growth and strategy.
In a letter sent to its specialist dealer network this morning, Director Sam Encel said:
I write to you with bittersweet news. For the past decade, our business has continued to grow strongly year-on-year. Paradoxically, we've achieved this revenue growth by focusing only on a select group of core brands. We're now one of the biggest independent hi-fi distributors in Australia and New Zealand by revenue, but we do it with one of the smallest brand portfolios in the business. The reason for this is focus.

Encel continues:
The pursuit of this strategy requires vigilance and the making of occasionally tough decisions. In rare cases, we'll decide to cease our distribution of products where the resources required to maintain them detract from our ability to focus with intensity on our major partners.
With the above in mind, Interdyn Brands says it has decided to cease the distribution of PMC Speakers, Roon and Panasonic Blu-ray players in Australia.
Interdyn says it is constantly refining its ability to give maximum energy to its portfolio and that its team is now the largest it's been in recent years, with more hiring underway. Encel added: "We're aggressively preparing for current and future growth, and freeing up product management, marketing, support and logistics capacity in this context is going to be imperative".
The changes are in line with what Interdyn expects to be an "incredible pipeline of products due to come out from our core brands - alongside the need to manage supply-chain challenges so that we can continue to provide excellent service in an unpredictable environment."
Business excellence relies heavily on foresight, shown here in spades with Interdyn renewing its focus on its existing brands, including house-brand Encel and leading brands such as Pro-Ject, Rotel, Monitor Audio, SVS, IsoTek, Ortofon, and more.
Encel concluded:
We'll work to the best of our ability with PMC, Roon and Panasonic to assist them in transitioning to new distribution arrangements in an orderly fashion. Until such time, sales and support will continue to be provided by Interdyn for their products.
Interdyn, founded in Melbourne more than 60 years ago, has built a solid foundation and strong reputation for representing world-leading brands in Australia. It has also undergone many transformations in that time to respond to changing market and consumer trends, and confidently pivoted when required. Like the song says, "You've got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em" ...

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
