Musical Fidelity Announces M6xTT Turntable

The company's newly announced M6xTT builds on this success, taking the design to a wider audience and following on from its bigger M8xTT brother.

A belt drive design, it sports electronic speed control and switchable 33.33 and 45RPM. The 6.6kg, 39mm thick aluminium platter provides a ‘flywheel’ effect to damp down speed instability; this is topped by leather mat that reduces record disc resonance. The large acrylic base further impedes vibrations, and is decoupled from the surface it sits on. The inverted main bearing with ceramic ball tip provides super-smooth operation. Prospective purchasers should know that this is a large turntable, measuring 480x210x370mm (WxHxD), and weighing 19.1kg.

The deck is supplied with a 9” tonearm with an effective mass of 13g – ideal for most medium and low compliance moving magnets and moving coils. Because cartridge choice is a very personal matter, the deck is not supplied with one. The arm is the same design as that fitted to the more expensive M8xTT, but with a shorter aluminium armtube. It uses a transparent acrylic bearing ring and comes with a choice of damped counterweights.

The new M6xTT will be available at the end of the year or the beginning of 2025, priced at £4,499/ €4,999.
