Sugden Audio Moves to Synergy Audio Visual

Since 1967, when James Sugden introduced the world to the first commercially available pure class 'A' solid-state amplifier, Sugden Audio's products have stood the test of time. They are not just classics but also evoke a sense of nostalgia and are highly coveted even today.
In Australia, the late George Neophytou of Neophonics was Sugden Audio's proud flagbearer for decades. Paying tribute to George, Synergy says the brand's strong position in the Australian market was thanks to his efforts.
Synergy says the company's focus on reproducing a total musical performance remains unchanged. The development of Sugden products includes both subjective and objective considerations, including hours of prototyping, component selection, measuring, and listening, which enable Sugden Audio products to deliver the complete musical experience.
Sugden Audio continues to hand-build its products, with each unit being the responsibility of just one technician. In an age of automation and mass production, this might seem unusual, but it can be justified by the quality standards. Synergy adds, "Sugden production methods are the antithesis of robotic mass production and the maelstrom of that working environment".
Sugden Audio's current lineup consists of four ranges of power amplifiers, integrated amplifiers, phone stages and DACs. Pricing and availability have yet to be confirmed, but we look forward to taking a closer look at today's range of Sugden Audio and wish the company the best for its next chapter in Australia.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
