Further Information

I have had two units sitting here for two years as my plans for an HT did not come to fruition. I believe I have the original box and packing. If you are keen, you can ask me about the second unit.

This upgraded unit is fully shielded internally from EMI and RFI, delivering greater sound precision and depth. It's like having an internal vibration system that limits resonance from internal components or external sources. I use the partner AV8005, a gem after this treatment, as my stereo preamp.

I have used this unit since purchase in early 2020, and it has performed flawlessly.

Here's the specs:

Marantz MM8077 7 Channel Power Amplifier delivers exceptional multichannel surround sound with increased operating stability, low distortion, improved instant power supply capability and 7 x 150 Watts of power at 8Ω. The Marantz MM8077 successfully delivers subtle nuance of your music and thrilling movie soundtrack performance.

Current feedback discrete power amplifier

The Marantz current feedback discrete power amplifier topology employs high current, wide-bandwidth power transistors that feature high slew rate along with low impedance drive capability, for maximum operating bandwidth and solid performance with difficult speaker loads. The MM8077 is rated at 150 watts in 8 ohms for each of the 7 channels (continuous), and can deliver 180 watts into 6 ohms.

High power, high current power supply with toroidal power transformer

The high power, high current power supply features a massive toroidal power transformer that can easily handle substantial short term power peaks. The high capacity power supply capacitors, 100,000μ total, contribute to the amplifier’s ability to deliver short term bursts of power when needed, which is especially helpful when driving difficult-to-drive lower impedance speakers.

Connectivity, Flexibility & Expandability

XLR balanced / unbalanced selection function

Choose between balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) inputs for each channel for maximum system configuration flexibility.

A wealth of possibilities for system upgrades

A variety of systems, including 11-channel systems, can be built by combining the MM8077 with the 5-channel MM7705.

Remote power on/off control

When the Marantz AV8801 or AV7701 pre-amplifier is connected to the MM8077, the remote power control feature links the power ON/OFF function of the pre-amplifier to the MM8077.

Control & Convenience

Low-power standby mode

For environmental and energy-saving considerations, power consumption during standby mode has been reduced to less than 0.4 W.

Auto-standby mode

The MM8077 automatically switches to standby mode when there has been no signal for 30 minutes. This prevents power from being wasted whenever you forget to turn the power off.
