The very first PS Audio BHK amp I had was a loaner new black BHK 250 from a dealer friend to try. At the time I had the Musical Fidelity M8 700m monos. Retail on Musical Fidelity monos was about 50% higher in price than the BHK 250 stereo. There was no contest, the BHK 250 stereo amp was a vast improvement. The BHK 250 made my then MF 700m monos sound brittle, edgy, and unrefined in every part of the frequency response. I had a spare of NOS Tungsol PCC189 tubes and rolled it into the BHK 250 amp. Gees, the gaps only widened again over the MF monos. More refinement, more tonal weight, and more musicality. Ironically, speaking of musicality, the Musical Fidelity amp were sold promptly!

Reflecting back, the BHK 250 was vastly superior in its design and quality of parts used. The 6922 pair of input tubes, makes this amp a joy to tune this amp to most systems. Stock tubes were new production Gold Lion ECC88. Good tube straight out of the box.
