Further Information

Excellent condition current model - Aqua Acoustic La Scala Optologic Mk2 DAC (in Black).

Pet, child, smoke-free home. Meticulously cared for, original owner. Purchased through Magenta Audio.

Aqua DACs are handmade in Milan, Italy.

Designed in a modular internal construction, allowing owners a chance to upgrade over time.

New retail on this current model is $11,990.

R2R design, and optical galvanic isolation between digital and analog stages.

Hybrid direct coupled tube/MOSFET in the output stage.

In terms of sound, this DAC casts a vast vivid soundstage, a rich analog timbre, precise imaging.

Simply put, the sound is amazing. I have heard dCS DACs before, and the Aqua sounds far more emotional, organic, and engaging.

People often ask about the Denefrips Terminator.. that's a lower price point DAC, and levels below the Aqua La Scala DAC obvious when doing an A/B comparison (drier sound and unrefined relative to the Aqua).

I have the original box and can post with insurance for peace of mind.

Also, happy to do a local demo or in your system demo if you are withing a reasonable driving distance.

Excellent SNA review on this DAC (from 6th April, 2023):

To quote some kind words from @Godot regarding the the Aqua La Scala Optologic Mk2 DAC:

Yes, this is very good buying for a superb DAC. My direct comparison is with my Playback Designs Merlot, which retailed for around $11,000 when it was available. I have lent that to a friend who, to quote “hates me now”, as that is so much better than anything else he has.
Both are very good DACs, but when I had both in my system and could switch between them I always ended up listening to the Aqua La Scala, it just sounded more fluid and was more enjoyable for me. GLWTS
