Bigger Duntech'sFurther Information
Up for sale is my most favorite speaker to now in my room after 100s regardless of dollar value.
Yes, this is the highest price listed for these speakers here but have been fully restored, tested driver wise, rare to come up and I am now selling below cost of the original buy price and parts etc. Will list why below and a little bit of read sorry!
I got these locally in original vintage condition and even then they sounded so really good as is! but noticed due to the age with some flaws to my ears. 2 of the woofers (lower ones) under a bit of volume would rattle abit with complex bass swings/passages and about 10% off on one of the speaker tweeters for 100% true center high feq pinpoint imaging, that measured under ohm spec.
Since then they have been fully refurbished with 4 Audax matched batched new Mid/Bass woofers as they still make the exact same new imported from Europe luckily which was great move as a massive increase of mid band and bass detail/dynamics after swapping them and also after many months tracked down a replacement matched ohm Dynaudio Esotec D260 tweeter and they now sound truly sublime and one of the best sound setup I’ve had in my room a wipe the floor with any other speakers worth 2-4X or more the money I’m selling these for! Usual Duntech sound, big soundstage, pinpoint imaging and crazy great impact/attack and decay all with an amazing natural timbre.
The only speaker that is replacing these are a larger pair of Duntech Crown Prince’s, of cause! still even think the Viceroys still do a few things better in my current small/med room (and a lot cheaper power amps needed to run them etc vs the large Duntech’s) but the larger ones should do better in my larger audio room I’m planning and not aloud 2 audio rooms here sadly, so the Viceroys are listed for another new owner.
Matching serials A59 and B59. Cross overs still great and measuring fine etc and have the better branded caps, vs some rough glue gunned no brand ones that some Duntech’s had after John Dunlacy wasn’t around. The only thing that isn’t refurbished is the wood cabniets, a few marks and bumps etc here and there due to age (most corners where black paint has come off), but due to the solidness doesn’t affect sound in anyway, so never bothered about the cabinet work as the older Duntechs aren’t lookers.
They also come with the original 4X Audax drivers and 1X Dynaudio Esotec D260 tweeter that can be fixed by speaker tech if you choose for extra $ or keep for spares but new current drivers should be good for another 20-40 years.
Pickup only due to weight 52kg each and happy to demo but only for serious buyers only as I need to move 100kgs+ of speakers around
