Further Information

Here's something special you don't see often.

Australian-delivered 2003 Klipsch La Scala AL4 speakers in immaculate condition, with included Crites/ALK Universal 3 (current model) adjustable crossovers (originals still installed too). These speakers are the very last model update prior to the very expensive AL5 being released (RRP AU$27,000!), and include the updated AL4 crossovers and Monster Cable wiring from factory. These can get you the Klipsch La Scala horn-loaded sound for a fraction of what new speakers would cost.

The newly installed Crites ALK Universal 3 crossovers (AU$1000 delivered) allow fine-tuning of the sound in both the highs and lows, and are the culmination of ALK retiring and working with Crites to bring an affordable (ALK crossovers could cost $2000+), but effective, version of his crossover logic to market for the long term. It's easy to re-wire the speakers back into the AL4 crossovers, and adjustments to the Crites/ALK is done with jumpers so it's super simple. The Crites/ALK are installed with simple velcro, so their installation in no way damaged the speakers.

How is the sound? Big. They fill the room and are able to reproduce live recordings extremely well, especially when it comes to vocals. They aren't bass monsters, but instead create an expansive sound which also works well for movies when part of an HT setup. These weren't designed for pinpoint time-alignment or ruler-flat response, instead they're more like instruments themselves that sound amazing can be modified (if you wanted, they sound awesome anyway) in a million ways to the sound you like (Crites sells every part you can imagine to replace/upgrade whatever you might like).

I purchased these around 6-9 months ago with the intention of keeping them forever, but I've decided to start a massive downsizing of my stereo collection (plus the Mrs wasn't the biggest fan of these lol...). From what I learnt from the previous owner, these were purchased new by a doctor who had them given a clear-coat over the bare wood, which honestly makes them look far better.

Dimensions are 63cm x 61cm x 91cm each and each weighs 56kg! As such, these are definitely local pickup only.

Happy to provide more information, pictures etc. on request.
