Further Information

Purchased July 2024 powering my Revel Center and m&k surrounds. I sold my center to keep a 2ch setup and hence, no longer required this amp. I have pair of buckeye monos for my fronts .

this amp has the buckeye 3 stage gain toggle switch, auto signal detection , 12v trigger input and OPA1656 onboard. As per ASR forum and measurements - this amp has the best sinad results competing with benchmark ahb2 power amps.

Note: The amp do not come with power cable.

The Hypex NCx500 is a continuation of the excellent NCORE line. Offering nearly 2x the performance improvement over the last generation NC500 OEM module, the NCx500 represents a significant step forward for Hypex amplifiers, with up to 700 watts of power per channel (all channels driven) at extremely low distortion and an imperceptible noise floor level.

With its completely flat frequency response and high power output, our 3ch Hypex NCx500 is a top tier choice for those with critical LCR setups for home theater and/or 2ch setups, allowing for users to hear the source material as it should be without any added distortion or "coloring" of the sound.

NOTE: Our 3ch NCx500 amplifier uses an exclusive 2kW SMPS from Micro Audio (SMPS2K-SN) to fully power all three channels without any of the drawbacks of our competitors, including superior thermal management. The Micro Audio SMPS also brings with it Active Power Factor Correction.

You have a choice of two different gain stages during checkout (both are the same price and both sound identical):

Hypex gain stage, which renders our Low/Med/High toggle switch inactive (gain cannot be changed). This configuration is best for use with an AV Receiver and/or when using other Hypex amplifiers in your setup.

Buckeye gain stage, allowing for Low/Med/High gain settings via toggle switch on the rear. This configuration is best for use in setups with a source/DAC capable of higher pre-out voltages.

The gain stage can be switched via internal jumpers by the customer if future setups dictate the need to change.

Custom I/O Board:

Neutrik XLR connectors

Gold plated 5-way speaker binding posts

Low, Med, High Gain settings (if using our Buckeye gain stage)

TI OPA1612 OP Amp (if using our Buckeye gain stage)

TI TPS7A30/49 Voltage Regulators

Auto Sensing On/Off

12v trigger On/Off

Muted soft-start/shutdown (minimizes speaker “pop” when turning on and off)

Error Indication (via front power LED)

Gain settings when using our Buckeye gain stage:

4 ohm - 24.2dB/3.3Vrms (High), 19.2dB/5.8Vrms (Medium), 14.2dB/10.3Vrms (Low)

8 ohm - 24.2dB/3.4Vrms (High), 19.2dB/6.0Vrms (Medium), 14.2dB/10.8Vrms (Low)

Gain setting when using the Hypex gain stage:

4 ohm - 26.8dB/2.4Vrms

8 ohm - 26.8dB/2.5Vrms

The Hypex gain stage matches up with the input gain of the Hypex NCxxxMP and Purifi amplifiers, perfect for those wanting to mix Hypex and Purifi amplifiers (such as for a home theater setup).

RCA vs. XLR
While our amplifiers use XLR inputs, it is perfectly fine (and fully supported by Hypex) for customers to use RCA to XLR cables to connect the amplifier to a source that only has RCA outputs.
Please see our FAQ section for more information if necessary.
