NLRFurther Information
A VERY rare beast for sale today. Were you aware that ‘back in the day’ Chord built a high-end cinema processor?? High end, in that all Chord’s high-end power and preamps sat on those 4 big, stackable pillars.... just like this one.
I very much doubt there would be more than 2 or 3 of these in Australia.
For the past 4 years this has been the workhorse in my big home-theater 5.2 rig, and it’s been BRILLIANT. It may not do the latest Codecs, and it’s a pre-HDMI unit, but other than that it’s fantastic.... and highly versatile. Think of it as a high-end Chord stereo preamp with HEAPS of benefits, and it starts to look good value. The only reason I’m selling it is that I am streaming more TV, and while it can translate the soundtrack into NEO6, I have moved on to a full HDMI / ARC based processor.
Inputs / outputs... heaps!
- 10 Analogue RCA input pairs
- Tape Monitor
- RCA 7.1 inputs
- 4 x Coax digital inputs
- 2 x Optical inputs
- 2 x XLR analogue inputs
- A full array of Composite and S-video inputs – not so much use these days!
- AES / EBU input
- Full 7.1 XLR outputs
- Full 7.1 RCA outputs
- Optical digital out
- RCA Monitor out
Interestingly enough, ALL the inputs are side-mounted, with a flap that lifts for easy access, and lifting it turns on an LED inspection lamp!
Setup via the front fascia, or on your TV via the monitor output.
The Fluro screen functions perfectly – still strong and no missing elements.
BUT.... the bottom line is.... this is a top-tier Chord stereo preamp, with heaps of ‘extras’. Where else will you get such a high-end preamp for the $$$?
HiFi Shark – the cheapest going recently was Euro 1,750 – that's over A$3K – so a good deal at $1.9K.
Also, I have the printed manual, and a near new remote control.
The only minor niggle – occasionally when I power it up in my system, it refuses to accept the remote commands. Power off / on and it’s fixed. May not happen in your setup.
No box. And it weighs about 15kg.... but I can box for shipping it needed.
