Further Information

These gorgeous speakers, hand crafted by Scott Krix and John Matheson in 1977 are completely unique and the only Transmission Lines in this size ever manufactured by Krix. W415mm x D520mm x H1255mm. They were never put into production. They offer an amazing and unique sound due to their sheer size, weight and design, a sound that cannot be replicated with any other speaker design with or without a separate sub.

They have a beautifully warm but very detailed sound with tight, fast and deep bass as you would expect from a speaker of this design and size. They are a prefect match for a well sorted turntable set up. They are surprisingly easy to drive despite their "generous" size and weight and do not require a mega amp to extract their best.

These were a joint collaboration between Scott Krix, the founder of Krix Speakers and John Matheson, who was the Technical Director of the Adelaide Festival Theatre and who also went on to become the owner of Revolver Hifi in Hyde Park in the early 2000’s.

These speakers were owned by John from their inception until 1993 when I purchased them, so I am the 2nd owner since 1977. They were my main listening speakers until 2009 when (due to marital constraints) I was forced to buy some smaller more “aesthetically pleasing” Dynaudio speakers and they have been in storage since then.

They are a 3-way design and feature original circa 1977 Dalesford 6.5” mid-range drivers and Richard Allan 12” Woofers. The original tweeters sadly didn't make it and were replaced in 2005 with Vifa tweeters. There has also been some light modifications to the rear, the old plastic wire speaker terminals and bi-amp switches were replaced with more robust metal ones for longevity and to accommodate banana style plugs.

After 31 years of ownership, the time has come for me to part ways with these gentle giants and hopefully someone else can appreciate their unique sound and heritage.

They weigh approx. 70-80kg each so local pick up is preferred.

There is slight damage to the top rear of one of the cabinets (see pic) but this can be easily repaired and does not impact their sound performance.

Size: W415mm x D520mm x H1255mm

Weight: Unknown approx 70-80kg would be a guess.
