Further Information

I've had this since new, purchased in UK when living there some years ago.

Beefy amp that comfortably drives any load, and very faithful reproduction of the source. In it's time, it was Arcam's flagship Integrated Amp.

Optional phono module not installed. It does have a UK plug. Happy to supply with an adaptor, or I can put a AU plug on it for you. I've been using it with the adaptor myself.

I can add more photos, as you can see, it's currently in service.

Here's more info borrowed from a previous listing.

---

Perhaps best known for it's output device technology which Arcam claimed 'practically eliminated thermal modulation of audio signals to ensure a truly dynamic and transparent reproduction'. The A38 offered a preamp design that used studio grade components which at the time of release exceeded many reviewer expectations and arguably raised the bar for specialist integrated amplifiers.

I've also got an A38 amp and it's great.

This would be an absolute bargain for someone looking to upgrade and get better music out of their low-to-mid range home theatre system.

One of the key features not mentioned in your ad is Home Theatre or Processor mode. This allows you to connect the L&R pre-out from the AVR and have the Arcam A38 driver the front speakers for movies. For music you run the streamer /DAC straight into the A38. This totally bypasses the AVR for music and should give a nice improvement in sound quality.

Very cool Ben. I did not actually know about that, because I'm 2 channel all the way and have never owned a HT. But yes, you're right.

To answer you're other question—it was a pretty big upgrade.
From: Arcam A38 driving Dynaudio Audience 72 floor standers.
To: Naim New Classic Series Streamer/Dac/Preamp (NSC222), Power amp (NAP250), and Power Supply (PSX300), and a pair of Spendor D7.2 floor standers.
