Ever wanted to try 300b valves but didn't know where to start?
These monoblocks will get you out of the gate with a supply of valves that will allow you to experiment, have fun and listen to some beautiful music. All else you need is a preamp and some relatively sensitive speakers.
I am selling a pair of 300B Monoblocks (Audile built in Melbourne sometime around 2005-2008 according to previous discussions). These utilise 2x300B valves per monoblock outputting around 18W. These operate as SE Parallel output
I had these checked over by a technician in 2022, with no issues found or any issues since. Moving these on for someone else to try.
I currently have these running these with WE 300b reissue tubes, as shown in the amp photo (Not included in sale price). The included 300b tubes are 4 x Electro Harmonix 300b Gold (these are included in the price) and shown in one of the photos.
These sound great and drove both the Klipsch Cornwall IV and Fyne F703. I also found you can alter the presentation of the sound stage by swapping the EL34 tubes. The EH 6CA7 produce more bass, and the TAD produced the nicest overall presentation.
These amps have 2 switches per monoblock, the switch on top is switched on first and left approx 1-2 minutes to warm everything up, then the 2nd switch on the side near the power plug is turned on to produce the output power. Turning on the second switch will present an expected dull thud to the speakers (does not cause damage) that will be louder for more sensitive speakers.
One switch on the side was replaced as mentioned by previous owner in the attached post, this doesn't affect anything apart from looking different from the other original switch. The Hammond transformers have a good reputation and apart from the faded black on top perform flawlessly. The gold top plate and the wood side panels are visually impressive, they may not win any design awards but given the low price in order to dip your toes in the wonder that is 300b amplification, I think they are great.
