I believe these were made in Melbourne from Cary kits by Amber and sold in Audiophile on Brunswick Street. I'm sure that someone will sing out and correct me. Three inputs, two outs. This makes music sound like magic. Will be missed but having a young family I have gone in another direction.

Is there a proper on/off switch or does the unit have to be in standby?  What 6922s are currently installed?

Good detective work. Tried a few tubes at one point. Currently genelex  🤙🏼

Sorry for the delay. Yes there is a main power switch on the top left panel but best left on standby for regular use. Current tubes are Russian Genelex. I might have another pair somewhere that can come with the unit. 👍

Does anyone know exactly what came with the kit ? was it all of the components ?

ie, the transformer for example, I did pm the seller, but in all honesty, he does not

The Amber SP-50B preamplifiers were all assembled by Audiophile. The 6DJ8/6922 valves are operated in a SRPP configuration to provide a lowish output impedance.

It was not supplied or sold as a kit. I understand that the chassis, mains transformer and some other parts were sourced from the USA .

Okay, so the transformer is not a Cary transformer ?

Cary and its associate company, Audio Electronic Supply did not manufacture transformers; they had them made to suit their specifications.  The AE-3 pre-amp appears to be the basis for the SP-50B.
