Further Information

Up for a reluctant sale is this wonderful valve phonostage

built in Melbourne by Golden Age Audio. Another words Duc (Lovetube)

here are his own words describing the construction and parts he used.

“This is an all valves design with all point to point wiring, using top grade components which are hand picked, matching for low noise and has a reliable service. The over sized power transformer is custom made to our specifications by a well known Australian transformer manuafacturer and we use Lundahl chokes .

We use the double chassis in our design, which means the sub-chassis for signal path is separated from the power supply. This is effectively as good as the two box design, but more user friendly which where, the space is limited.

It is a full valve design with the use of valve rectification and 2 chokes , one used as choke input to provide smooth , musical and detailed sound with good speed .the circuit is Zero global feedback and passive RIAA design for open & relax sound.

It is not only designed to sound good but also to last.”

Valves used in the phono are

2 x 6CG7

2 x 12AT7/ ECC81

1x GZ34 or 5AR4 , 5V4G .

gain approximately 40Db in MM.

2 x input for MM model

Chassis is Solid Blackwood with Anodised Aluminium top / bottom .

we also designed a new feet's machined from Solid Delrin with rubber ring insert .

dimension : 400 x 330 x 220mm

weight approx 35 bls .

I replaced the valves for this unit only last year with NOS purchased locally here in Adelaide.  It has played flawlessly Since. so this unit is good for years of listening pleasure.

Now this is a two input MM a box. But I will also include Duc’s SUT using Lundalh transformers from Sweden. Built in a separate box made out of Tasmanian blackwood. This sounded great with my Lyra Kleos cartridge.

I’m happy to use our local Pack and Send as they have shipped previously valve audio equipment I’ve sold with no issue.
this would be at the buyers cost.

However, I’m considering driving to Melbourne for the HiFi show so if the buyer is located there or in

Victoria, I’ll bring it across and we can arrange a handover.

This would be an incredible sounding unit. Doesn't get much better than this. Best of luck with your sale.

I have similar one with built in mc, but also have external SUT. This is a bargain. Not just hot air about hand picked top grade components-even the fuse is a hard to source very expensive audio grade component. GLWTS but if sanity prevails you won’t need luck

P.s. I don’t know why, but photos of these can never do them justice-in the flesh the woodwork and general build is stunning-and I’m all about aesthetics

If I still had my vinyl collection I'd be all over this like a fat kid on a cupcake  🙂

Thought I’d say something Regarding this phonostage.

I was fortunate to have some dealings with Duc over the years.
with this phonostage and other projects he did for me.
privileged to be invited into his garage where he had his setup.
he was intense but focused on his work but happy to share his thoughts.
This phonostage is now regretfully sold.
