Further Information

Selling a pair of yamaha ns1200 classics with matching sps1200 stands , these were made in the late 80's and around twice the price of the ns1000m . They weigh in at 42kg plus stands each and have a 12 inch spruce cone woofer , 80mm cloth dome mid and 30mm cloth dome tweeter , all of the driver's have alnico magnets. Cabinets are extremely solid and are finished in high gloss wood vanneer.  No damage to any drivers , sound wise they have better bass than the ns1000 and are more laid back in their presentation .

Due to weight it's a pickup only affair from geelong

Cheers

I think you’ll find these are NS-1200 but not the “classics”. The “classics” had the dark/black woofer.

The non classic with the light coloured woofer is much rarer. From my knowledge from a former head of Yamaha only about 80 pairs were made and a lot were damaged in transport to Australia. You’ll see many sold with varying levels of damaged cabinets. They were offered to Yamaha staff and dealers in Australia after the damage. They were designed in conjunction with Wharfedale to produce a speaker with a more “English” sounding tone rather than the more fast and “Japanese” brittleness of the NS-1000. Needless to say the Japanese didn’t really warm to them and they were sent our way.

They sound fantastic.

These look just amazing... and that cloth dome mid-range seems very unusual.  Perhaps somebody in Yamaha dreamed these up as a riposte to those who argued that the Be tweeter and mid-range domes in the NS-1000 series were too bright!? 😄
They're a sealed box (acoustic suspension) like the NS-1000, NS-690 and NS-670, right?

They are definitely a more british sound ! And yes sealed enclosure but a fair bit larger than the 1000's
