I am interested in getting a Samsung dvd player after seeing all the praise about it here.

Anyone know the best price and place i can get for the following model ?

M108

M128

M228

Anyone know the different features of the 3 models as it seems to me they look the same base on most of the comments in this forum.

Do they come default as region free or do i have to do some hacking after buying ?

Thanks in Advance !

TiA !

I'm selling brand new Pioneer model: DV533 (multi-code) Player...:). Please take a look at AV Planet Sales forum...do not wish to be out-of-topic.

You can find these models anywhere but I would suggest you to get the M228.

Depending where you buy from but region free should be the norm if you buy from SLS.

DVD Players are not made with FM tuners simply because majority of AV Amplifiers today come with FM tuners.

Beware of SLS shops on Ground floor which usually treat Singaporeans like tourists, crappy service and are not the cheapest. Suggest you get comparative quotes from People's Audio in People's Park, and Mustafa before rushing to buy. IMO, both these shops offer much cheaper prices than any SLS shop.

Does Mustafa and People's Audio dvdp comes region free ?

max, will wait for your SLS trip report.

tcw, thanks for the explaination.

anyone has experience with S328K ? couldn't find much info using search here ...

Hi birdman,

As promised, the name of the shop that quoted me the prices for the Samsung dvd players is Merdeka Audio located on SLS groundfloor.

But they only stock 228 & 328k. If you want the 128, pls let me know quickly as I have lobang @ $175 to $180 (direct from Samsung and with 1-year warranty). However, please note that 128 is kind of an old model and is going to be phrased out. Most of the SLS shops no longer carry this model.

Above are just some of my field report. :P

As advised by tcw, you may want to check with other shops to get lower prices. But you can use the above prices from SLS for comparison purposes.

Regards.

I have a S-128 from UOB's Credit card promotion.

Also have the same MP3 tracks skipping problem,

I suspect it could be with the coding MP3 or quality of the MP3s disc.

This series of Samsung DVD players cannot play pirated MP3 discs well, and tends to skip.

However, if the MP3s are cut by you on better-quality blanks, should be OK.

Indeed it is true, i tried copying onto cdrw at 10x and it skip less, when i use a lower speed cdrw and copying at 2x, no more skipping .... but an agonising > 30 min wait for 1 cd. :(

Anyone know how to set nero to allow cutting at any speed ? currently, for a 24x cd, the slowest speed allowed by nero is 12x on my pc.
