nang3 Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 hey guys, Seeing as ive just picked up an LX60 i thought i might as well create a thread on this range of AVR's for owners to give feedback, configuration tips or tell of any problems or bugs. Only tip i have so far is that if you press the 'Signal Sel' button accidentally it cuts off the audio even if you switch the AVR on and off. I did it last night without realising and couldnt get audio no matter what i pressed - the display didnt indicate it was in Signal Select mode or whatever, even going through the surround modes didnt fix it. Only when i got close to the AVR front LCD i noticed the mode it was in. Silly rookie mistake mwahahaha, and im sure theres plenty more to be made !! Theres still a bit of stock of this great AVR around the place going for cheap since theres a new model on the way, heres a receipt for $1277 (rrp $2499) if anyone wants ; http://members.iinet.net.au/~armstronghome/lx60.jpg
Juicester Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 very generous of you to offer it. Even with it, I can imagine some retailers will die when they see the price - and not offer anywhere near it. hope it's all sounding great in your HT. Juicester

mansai Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 One bug is the LX60 learning remote will learn the codes from the Foxtel IQ2 remote but will not work. That is really my only issue with this unit and I wish Pioneer would fix it (I know, just go and buy a Logitech remote)
nang3 Posted October 12, 2008 Author Posted October 12, 2008 hmm havent tried the remote with Foxtel but it controls my 8yr old pioneer dvd player perfecttly. for some reason on friday when trying audio CD's i could not get the AVR to send anything to the sub now matter what format (stereo/pure/prologic II music etc) i chose. I went into the settings to the speaker setup and set subwoofer to ON but it made no difference, only when i set the sub to PLUS did it start using the sub at all.. is that right?? i woulda thought ON would have worked too.. maybe some more fiddling around is needed

If speakers are set to SMALL and LFE is set to YES, then bass goes to LFE, but if speakers are set to LARGE, then you need to set LFE to PLUS to get bass to the LFE constantly otherwise it's just sent to the large speakers. Not sure if there is any difference between Cd's and DVD's (movies) with respect to LFE usage etc. Movies probably have more sound effects that use the LFE.

Some people prefer to set all thier speakers to small even if they are in-fact large (by large they mean woofers of 8"s or larger) but you should try both settings and see which way you prefer the sound. Also make certain you set the cross-over for the sub while your in there though depending on how musical your sub is you might prefer the bass from your speakers. Try both settings with the same music, should be able to have it playing back while switching netween large/small speakers and the same with the yes/plus in the subwoofer setting. Your ears will let you know what works best for you.
yrneh Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 (edited) hi, just a question. i have the LX50, is there a way that you can output the input component video to HDMI? thanks Edited October 13, 2008 by yrneh
nang3 Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 ^^ as far as i know the AVR can upconvert all incoming video signals to be output via HDMI ??? i havent actually tried it but i think others on here would have?
yrneh Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 it's all ok now, i was just impatient . there is just a 1.5sec delay before the picture appears after i switch to one of my panel's HDMI input. before i wasn't waiting, if i see no picture, i switch it back to component. thanks

heyskip Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Holy s*#t thats a massive price drop. And to think I paid $1400 only 2 months or so ago and that was a good deal (RRP over $2G).
nang3 Posted December 2, 2008 Author Posted December 2, 2008 +1 thats a great price, i got mine for $1277 !!
duz10s Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I have seen the LX60 selling on ebay for less than $1200 Still trying to pick which model I go for
Navigator Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Help please I have a Pioneer LX70 receiver connected to a Kuro LX608A and a pioneer BDP LX70 player. All are about 10 months old. The receiver has started to play up. When the receiver is switched on, using the remote, the remote works fine but after about 10 minutes the remote will not allow any input change from the program selected nor will it allow me to switch off the power. The controls on the receiver including volume are also frozen at the setting at the time. The receiver and the remote are in effect frozen on the current input. If I switch off the power to the receiver, and that means to all the other appliances and then switch on again after a minute or so, the receiver and the remote works fine again until about another 10 minutes when it freezes as before. I rang Pioneer and the person was unable to help except to say bring it in, perish the thought. Does anyone know what I can do or has any one hasd this problem and got it solved? I dont want to send the receiver to Pioneer now ,I expect i will lose it for the holidays Navigator

Took it back and swapped for a new one straight away. There was also another post re LX70 doing a similar thing here I also have a similar combo as you (LX508, LX70a, LX60) but doubt it's that. When I was googling around I found some other people overseas complaining of similar things and talk about crystals being replaced. Mine hasnt missed a beat since it was replaced. Also check for any stray speaker wires that may be shorting out. Apparently that can cause a similar symptom. cheers TB Edited December 3, 2008 by tb123

Navigator Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Thanks TB If it is not a loose speaker wire it looks like it needs to go back to Pioneer for a crystal replacement. Navigator
