ufo Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 Seeing the thread about Tesla, just wondered if there is any Mitsubishi PHEV owner out there?
Briz Vegas Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 That vehicle is a bit of a fail judging by the Australian comparison. Apart from particulate pollution (microfines from burning sulfur) you are better off with a diesel. Save up and get a Model X instead.

Apart from particulate pollution (microfines from burning sulfur) you are better off with a diesel. Save up and get a Model X instead. It looks like a fail in AU due to lack of take-up but it is a huge success and best selling PHEV in Europe ahead of all other brands (including likes BMW, Merc, Volvo) The situation in AU is due to no Government incentive at all and people's lack of knowledge on the vehicle and also fear of unknown/new technology. It is a brilliant vehicle, how do I know, cause I own one. Had it almost for 2 years (22000 km) not a single problem. Petrol usage went down 90% and electricity cost at the house went up 25% (due to charging), can't be happier it is a very refined vehicle, once you get used to its silence even 2015 7 series Beamer sounds loud (a friend has one). The only thing pissed me off was that they took out the Rockford Fosgate Premium Stereo with sub-woofer in AU models, it is available in all EU models. The regular stereo sucks but rest of the vehicle is just brilliant and best of all it costs almost the same with top spec diesel Outlander. I can go on and on for hours about it but better cut it short and answer if there is any specific questions.

Saxon Hall Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 A neighbour 2 doors down has one. I always look carefully when I cross the road because the big hulking thing is unbelievably quiet when he drives off. Uncanny. Just a bit of a quiet purr

A lot of people, that includes car reviewers, don't understand this vehicle at all but the number one thing they have to remember is that this vehicle is not a conventional vehicle. You gotta learn how to drive it economically. Then it is no brainier to obtain declared 52 km range, most of the time I get more than that. My round trip to work is 24 km, I drive it for two days and usually end up with 5 -10 km range left. Once you master how to use the pedals for regenerative braking, you can sometimes get to your destination without touching the brake pedal, think about savings on the brake pads. Back in 2014 a car reviewer wrote a brutal review for it calling Mitsubishi a con artist due to the vehicle not even coming close to the declared fuel consumption under his usage. But guess what, the idiot never charged the car while he had it for the entire week. When we go to Central coast from Sydney . which includes some freeway driving(Petrol engine kicks in) we easily obtain and better claimed 1.9 Lt /100 km fuel consumption and radar cruise control on this vehicle is just absolutely brilliant, just set the speed you want and all you have to do is steer, it will brake - accelerate and follow the traffic without a hitch and even come to complete stop itself if traffic in front stops. The new model not being available in AU yet is again due to very low take-up in AU. 2016 Outlander PHEV have been available in EU for more than 6 months. Edited March 14, 2016 by ufo
