  1. I will msg you with more info Neo.
  2. I make a headphone cable with my SilverLine Mk2 materials, pure MilSpec with very high grade silver copper alloys for both conductors and shield, all made to spec in a USA mil factory. I hand build the HP cables and can do them with almost any plug. A little stiffer than your average pvc coated braided wire affair, but very resolving, detailed and extended but not bright. Sounds just like the interconnect range which many in here use. https://www.sonicartaudio.com/estore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=41_123&products_id=400
  3. If you are running the digital in from a transport then i imagine the Ultra would simply convert through the dac and put analogue out the left and right outputs. I have an ultra but using it to stream and play from usb, it will feed straight out the L/R outputs as well as the digital output. I haven't used the digital in.
  4. Thanks for updating us Marco, glad it worked out, it did sound good when I was testing it, its a nice solid unit too.
  5. Am away from the office right now so cannot look up my manuals but from memory is 5-7ml, you want enough so it just starts squeezing out the top when the platter is fully seated.
  6. wasn't aimed at you or anyone in particular, simply putting it out there before the thread potentially got heated. I too fabricate a lot of TT parts.
  7. Put it on a puck or similar, pointless to put the phone on one side of the platter. I sit it on an OL Gravity puck, dead centre. The speed may not be absolutely spot on, but once you compare to a strobe and know what the phone reads it translates across any table you measure with the same phone. Use a puck high enough so you can play the record while checking speed to see if you have any variation. Oh and to be clear, I see this discussion as for the average user/reader here, not everyone is going to spend $500 on a tool to measure their TT speed, some might have less than that invested in their TT, so while I agree purpose built tools are the most accurate best way to go, lets not end up belittling people about using phone apps or any other method...
  8. I have that app and "turntable speed" which has more resolution, or appears that way I regularly see 0.03% on the Oracle, have seen 0.02% on one I rebuilt a while ago, I save the readings in the app. I have even gotten a Rega P3 down to 0.07% and a P6 down to 0.05%. My custom made TT with rim belt and Origin Live motor, rebuilt early model OL controller with different chips has gotten down to 0.02%.
  9. Sure thing, you can email me Jam, info@sonicartaudio.com.
  10. So Marco sent the Audiowave transformer across and I opened it up this morning. I had a couple of pics already of the inside, so here is a little peak into how its put together: Doesnt appear to be all that old from the dates on the transformers, 5yrs or so, but the rca connectors are corroding badly, and the wiring is interesting to say the least Marco had already spoken about the connectors, suggesting replacing them all with some Cardas ones, ok not the cheapest option out there but nice copper silver rhodium plated connectors would not detract from the performance... Now it wasnt just a rewiring job, the right channel was lower in output to the left, I hooked it up and experienced this for myself, definitely an imbalance there! So I went about measuring things, low and behold the right channels cold tap was shorting to earth... Hot was measuring correct impedance to the centre tap, cold was measuring as a short to the centre tap. Unsolder the wiring from the transformer and measure it, still shorted, but the transformer now measures the same impedance from both terminals to the centre tap. At least we know the transformer appears ok! Removed wires completely and measured them, the shield was shorting to the neg wire somewhere inside, as the wire was pretty rough I guess just a matter of time before the short showed up. So starting on one channel, wiring was removed, sockets removed, and some shiny new ones installed Sucked the old solder off all the Tx terminals and then made up two sets of wiring loom to rewire things more neatly. I used some of my SilverLine cable, well suited to this sort of job being shielded, and very high MilSpec quality. And yes I did make notes of the wiring before pulling it all out Stripped the other side and fitted the new sockets, wired them up the same. Plugged it in using XLR in and out, working perfectly again! Hopefully the owner will notice improvements once its all burnt in, the Teflon does take some time but its worth it.
  11. I would argue that it is real, the early models had red writing at the bottom, same basic chassis, then EC went to gold before going acrylic front plates. CE did not come in until early 90's and this amp is likely before that.
  12. As you have figured out its not class A, its an A/B amp that is biased towards class A, so while it doesnt get smoking hot it does get pretty warm in summer. That one is also a very early amp, single ended inputs, I have the AW100DMB which is later and is a fully balanced design. At that age I would be expecting to service it if its never been touched, they are quite easy to set bias etc if you have the right paperwork. Not a lot of caps to replace if it needs freshening up, EC did use quality components throughout their amps. I would not say they were class A warm and mushy, they have an EC house sound which is quite analogue, punchy and musical, clean extended top end, not rolled off, they can drive difficult loads as well, from memory doubling down as impedance drops. For a grand or so if its clean inside its a great amp to get hold of.
  13. shoot me a message Marco, is it operating OK and you just want to upgrade the wiring? you can go to the contact page at www.sonicartaudio.com and shoot me some details, I have a few choices in wire

CANTON FONUM 60 BOOKSHELF SPEAKERS! I have always liked Canton speakers, the company is a very old manufacturer in Germany and one of the few that made almost everything in house. Their vintage drivers are really nicely made, and with rubber surrounds they last a very long time. This was a covid project, they were stripped and the crossovers rebuilt with new German made Bennic bipolar caps in the bass circuit, and Poly film caps in the mid/tweeter circuits. The old caps had drifted in value and needed replacing. Rewired internally with high quality Japanese made copper cabling. The cabinets had a butyl rubber dampening pad bonded to the inside back panel and internal damping is acoustic wool. The cabinets are a dull black vinyl wrap, plain vinyl, I thought it would be nice to wrap something over the top that made them look a little neater, so found some black woodgrain wrap and did them in it, turned out really nice! I left the original terminals on the back as I wanted them to retain their vintage looks, the perforated metal grills especially are very cool looking and detract very little from the sound, in fact I almost like them on more than off! The Fonum 60 is an 8 inch 3 way speaker, well semi 3 way, it uses a small dome tweeter from 4900Hz up and a larger dome mid/tweeter from 900hz up, with a nice stiff paper cone main driver which is quite big for the speaker size. It’s a sealed box design so can be put on a shelf or close to the wall, bass is nicely reinforced this way too. Sound is very detailed and natural, they are not bright, but have a lot of midrange presence with a very decent bass response that is fast and tight thanks to the sealed enclosure design. They are really enjoyable to listen to, combined with a good musical amp like an early NAD or a tube amp and you would have a system that belies its price point in a big way. SPECS: Woofer: 210mm stiff paper cone, rubber surround. Mid tweeter: 30mm soft fabric dome doped. Tweeter: 20mm soft fabric dome doped. Response: 28hz - 30,000hz Sensitivity: 88dB Impedance: 8 ohms nominal. Dimensions: 260 x 370 x 220 mm Weight: 7kg each. Local Melb buyers can meet up during daytime hours at a convenient location dependent on where I am going to be and where you are coming from, usually outer SE side. If you are close to where I travel am happy to drop off. Also possible to box them and ship them but cost may be an issue depending where they need to go.

Up for grabs is a spare Sonic Art Rack, the 'ITSaRACKIT' MERBAU 4 SHELF equipment rack. Rack shelves are 540 wide 450 deep, solid 26mm Merbau in oiled finish. Rack legs are solid 33mm brushed alloy with Delrin decoupling spacers. 6mm Spikes are included in base legs. Leg height 180mm between shelves. This is a one off at a great price for a very solid audiophile rack. I use the same Merbau shelf design for my TT & analogue gear. NOTE: All these racks are hand made from solid timbers, there are often little flaws in the wood here and there, on this rack the shelf surfaces are perfect, only flaw is small splintered section on the back edge of one shelf which is fillered and unnoticeable when the rack is in place. Legs are brushed surface finish and may have some marks etc in the alloy surface, this is completely normal as the surface is not machined in order to maintain affordable prices. Can be shipped, takes 2 packages of approx 20kg each. Message me with postcode if you would like a quote. Local outer SE Melbourne pickup to be arranged at a convenient time, I am sometimes in the inner SE suburbs so can meet up with customers on the other side of the city to help with distance.

Here we have a Van Den Hul Tonearm phono cable, the D502 Hybrid series which has been built with new RCA plugs and a new Cardas female DIN in custom alloy housing. Very popular cable found on many hi-end arms in the day. Length is 1.45m, plenty long enough! From Van Den Hul: The D – 502 Hybrid is the twin version of the D-501 Hybrid, and is regularly used as a microphone cable in critical professional recordings, and in the tone-arm and mixing console industry. This matte black Hulliflex ® jacketed balanced cable was designed: very flexible and with extremely good electrical qualities. The D – 502 Hybrid is a cable with a very high shielding factor. Sonically this is one of the best cables in our program. Not expensive and with very high performance quality, making it excellent suitable as phono interconnect. The D – 502 Hybrid is equipped with a centre steel wire to provide extra mechanical reinforcement and strain relief. This coated steel wire, can be soldered and used as an extra ground-lead. The total pulling force handling of just this centre wire is already more than 30 kg. The D – 502 Hybrid features: The 4 signal lines are each made of 19 x 0.1 mm very high grade OFC wires with the highest density of very pure silver coating. As an extra layer around the metal group, we use a Linear Structured Carbon ® (LSC) saturated coating. The signal line insulation with white and yellow colours is made of cell-PE, so the stripping can even be done with your fingernails to prevent wire damage on the silver coated copper strands commonly caused by mechanical stripping. The resistance per signal lead is: 11.3 Ohm/100 meter. The capacitance between the signal leads is: 75 pF/meter. Very flexible specially treated artificial fibres are used as a filler to prevent any harm caused by external humidity or chemicals. The shielding consists of 96 x 0.10 mm. wires of a high-grade Matched Crystal (MC) OFC with a dense and very pure silver coating and a LSC saturated helical tape. The resistance of the shielding is: 2.3 Ohm/100 meter. The very flexible black outer jacket is made of migration-free Hulliflex ® to prevent any chemical deterioration over a long period. The type printing repeats every 25 cm. (10″) to make cutting of specified lengths easy. The external cable diameter is: 4.5 mm.

S-Logic Plus Technology S-Logic® Plus is the newest advancement in the S-Logic® Natural Surround System, squeezing the BIG S-Logic® soundstage found in our PRO series headphones into the more streamlined ear-cups of select HFI & DJ models (HFI-580, HFI-680, HFI-780, DJ1). S-Logic® Plus profits directly from innovations developed for Ultrasone’s flagship Edition range, the ultimate headphones for critical listening. This sophisticated new technology combines precision dampening with micro-acoustic reinforcement, allowing driver, buffer-board, and spatial parameters to complement one another in an optimal manner. So the acoustically redesigned ear-cups of these new models and their tonal fine-tuning result in a most neutral sound impression with more vivid perception of voices and instruments. How does S-Logic® Natural Surround Sound work? S-Logic® sends music around your head not just into it, because this technology uses decentralized driver positioning. Did you know that you use and need the outer ear for your three-dimensional understanding to define the direction and distance where a sound comes from? Instead of hitting the inner ear directly, with S-Logic® the signals are reflected off the surface of the outer ear in different directions before entering the auditory canal to create a natural three-dimensional Sound. S-Logic® is the only headphone system which includes your entire sense of hearing. S-Logic® does not change your personal hearing, it intensifies it for your individual needs and listening pleasure. S-Logic® does not need artificial echo nor digital sound processing or cross over run time delay. You can hear the sound just the way the sound engineer has mastered it. S-Logic® does not only create a Natural Surround Sound sensation. S-Logic® allows at the same time a reduction of sound pressure levels at the eardrum by up to 40% (3 - 4 dB). This may reduce the risk of hearing damage while ensuring hours of fatigue-free listening. Ultrasone - ULE-technology (Ultra Low Emission) MU shielding Most headphone drivers produce low-frequency magnetic fields as they convert an electrical signal into the acoustical signal that we hear as music. Ultrasone has developed a special MU Metal shielding that they call ULE (for Ultra Low Emissions) to reduce this radiation by up to 98%, compared to conventional headphones. This technology has withstood the test of international review and is recommended by technical surveillance organizations. Ultrasone originally developed ULE-technology for PROfessionals, since they spend half of their lives in headphones. But due to overwhelming consumer demand, we are pleased to offer ULE in the other Ultrasone lines. However, Ultrasone generally advises not to listen to music at high volumes to prevent hearing damage. Part of a collection of gear I am clearing for an old client who has to downsize his audio in a big way. Purchased 2023, has sat in the box for 95% of its life! I have tested it, the plug being silver has some tarnish on the contact tip from sitting around, simple clean with deoxit will sort that out. FROM AUDIOQUEST: AudioQuest Carbon Digital Coaxial cables are designed to minimise distortion across an extremely wide bandwidth and a smart way to connect your high-performance digital gear. The most popular application is connecting a CD player to a digital-to-analogue converter (DAC) or signal processor. AudioQuest's digital coaxial cables use materials and construction techniques. Digital Coaxial cables may look like a typical RCA interconnect, but that is where the similarity ends. For many applications, the speed of digital communication is important. Most visibly, “speed” is about transferring large files as quickly as possible, or carrying enough data for HD video. For Digital Coax audio “speed” is critical not because of how-much how-fast, but because time relationships within a digital stream are critical to the reconstruction of the analog waveform that brings information, music and joy to our ears. Time-based damage (jitter) to this information within the data package makes the sound small and flat instead of 3D, harsh and foggy instead of smooth and clear. Solid 5% Silver Conductors: Solid conductors eliminate strand-interaction distortion and reduce jitter. Solid silver-plated conductors are excellent for very high-frequency applications. These signals, being such a high frequency, travel almost exclusively on the surface of the conductor. As the surface is made of high-purity silver, the performance is very close to that of a solid silver cable, but priced much closer to solid copper cable. This is an incredibly cost effective way of manufacturing very high-quality digital coax cables. Note: The extra silver content over Cinnamon is the reason Carbon costs a little more. Hard-Cell Foam Insulation: Hard-Cell Foam insulation is used exclusively in most of AudioQuest’s video and digital audio cables. Similar to Foamed-PE, it is nitrogen injected to create air pockets. ‘Hard’ foam is used because the stiffness of the material allows the conductors in the cable to maintain the same relationship with each other along the full length of the cable, thus ensuring that the characteristic impedance of the cable is consistent. 100% Shield Coverage (Foil + Silver-Plated Braid): A silver-plated braid shield and an additional layer of copper foil effectively block detail-robbing electro-magnetic interference (EMI). Shielding always plays an important role in any cable design, but the shield on coax interconnect plays an especially important role because it functions not only as a shield but a return path as well. Because of this, AudioQuest pays special attention to the shield’s metal quality and the fabrication techniques as both will affect the sound and the picture. Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation System (NDS): Cables are a common path for unwanted noise to enter your system, but AudioQuest's multi-layer Noise Dissipation System (NDS) sets up a strong defence. Typical cable shield systems absorb and then drain noise and RF energy to component ground, which modulates and distorts the critical "reference" ground plane. 100% shield coverage is easy. Preventing captured RF Interference from modulating the equipment’s ground reference requires AudioQuest’s Noise-Dissipation System. Terminations: Carbon's RCA connectors are plated with "Hanging-Silver", a very thick and unusually pure direct-plating made possible by submerging individual plugs in pure silver, which is a superior approach to the typical process of electroplating batches of plugs by rolling them together in a drum. AudioQuest uses extremely pure Purple Copper for the base plugs, which are fastened by cold welding — a solder-less process that uses high pressure and silver paste to minimise signal loss. By contrast, solder tends to impede the signal, and heating the silver can negatively affect its conductivity. Main Features & Specifications Product Description: Coaxial Digital Audio Cable Terminations: Cold-Welded Silver-Plated Pure Purple Copper RCA connectors Conductors: 21 AWG Solid Silver-Plated Solid Copper Conductor Silver Layer: 5% Of Total Conductor Insulation: Nitrogen-Injected Hard-Cell Foam Insulation Noise-Dissipation System (NDS): Uses Metal And Carbon Loaded Synthetics To Shield Against RF Interference Shield: Foil + Tinned Braid Shield Outer Braid: Textile Black/Dark Gray Available Lengths: 750mm; 1.5 Metres

TCHERNOV Classic XS Mk2 XLR cables at 1.65m long, these are premium construction and technology, Russian aerospace & Military production. The Classic XS is just below the Reference and has a similar sound signature to the Ref' and Ultimate. Part of a collection of gear I am clearing for an old client who has to downsize his audio in a big way. Purchased late 2022, has sat in the box unused but marked as mint due to age. I have tested the cable and put it on the burner for 48h to minimize burn in for the new owner! The Classic XS MkII IC is a startling design that incorporates the enlarged 0.75 mm² BRC conductors and the advanced CAFPE®/SASDB® insulation/binding combination. The major evolutionary leap was achieved through implementation of the X-Shield® - our patented Multi-Element Shielding System. Higher definition is a consequence of efficient noise reduction. X-Shield® ensures EMI suppression across a wide frequency range - from ELF to SHF, drastically reduces the negative influence of multiple external interferences on the actual audio signal path and further boosts the overall mechanical and damping capabilities. The jacket executed of a Russian-made low-loss SPVC provides excellent mechanical strength and efficient absorption of acoustic noise and vibrational loads. With a more extended and linear frequency response the Classic XS MkII IC became our most technically refined, perfectly balanced and sonically neutral interconnect for the asking price. It performs amazingly dynamic and at the same time delicate, with all the instruments precisely textured. Images are solid and present, life-sized and appropriately contained in a coherent deeply extended and perfectly layered soundstage. Shipping no problem anywhere in Australia, or NZ for that matter. Happy to meet up with local buyers, we can work that out based on my daily travels and where you are located.

However, Ultrasone generally advises not to listen to music at high volumes to prevent hearing damage.
