Not sure that 'super tweeter' is the best description for these units - but seems to be the best fit for this forum. Manufactured originally for the Mark & Daniel 'Maximus Monitor' stand-mount speakers. The design basically goes way back to Gilbert Brigg's (Wharfedale founder) upward-firing speakers (eg his Column 8s). The idea is to aim the tweeter at a suspended upside-down metal cone to disperse the HF in a 360 degree horizontal plane and add 'air' to the sound. Can be used with other brands. The M&D website (http://mark-daniel.com/index.asp?ProID=65&table=pr) claims they suit speakers with sensitivity from 82 - 92 dB. [Note: the newer, Maximus Monitor Mk2 speakers have these OH units fully integrated.] Two reasons for sale:- 1: Have gone back to Martin Logan Electrostatic speakers, which generate all the 'air' I need. 2: They only kick in at over about 7,000 Hz - and my old ears struggle to hear these frequencies. To use, simply sit them on top of the main speakers and tap connections to the main speaker terminals. Their internal crossovers will do the rest. Solid little things - ceramic finish construction, about 14 x 14 x 14 cms, weight 2.5kg. Lots of info on the M&D website. [The newer, Maximus Monitor Mk2 speakers have these OH units fully integrated.] Email any queries. Happy to ship interstate. -

I first heard a pair of these a few years back when they were attached to a pair of Mark & Daniel Maximus Monitor Stand-Mount speakers. The difference it made at my friend's house was startling. Altogether more alive and interesting and engaging. But later on, when I finally purchased these very same Maximus Monitors, my friend kept the Omni-Harmonizers as they can be attached to any pair of stereo speakers and he didn't want to lose that airiness. He still has them attached to his high-end floorstanders. This particular pair were as a result of a 'wanted' ad I ran on SNA some time ago but I cannot recall from whom they came. I have since sold the Maximus Monitors, and gone back to Martin Logan Electrostatic speakers, so I have all the air I need. I kept these OHs just in case; but now my other consideration is that they only kick in at over about 7,000 Hz - and my old ears struggle to hear these frequencies. So now they really are surplus to requirements. To use, simply sit them on top of the main speakers and tap connections to the main speaker terminals. Their internal crossovers will do the rest. Solid little things - ceramic finish construction, about 14 x 14 x 14 cms, weight 2.5kg. Lots of info on the M&D website. There you go - I learned something new. Had never heard of Rab C. Nesbitt - but it's a Scottish institution! He reminds me of Onlow in 'Keeping Up Appearances'. -

Absolute bargain. As a Uniti 2 owner for the last decade, this Naim (IMO) is an exceptional piece of kit and wonderful all-rounder. The Swiss Army Knife of hifi - does the lot - just add speakers. Excellent flexibilty, convenient and easy to use. With that unique Naim PRaT. A very cheap opportunity for a neophyte to dip their toe into Naim waters.

Further Information: Outstanding compact speakers. Approx:- H 36 x W 21.5 x D 29 cms. Weight 15kgs each. Exceptional clarity without being harsh, wonderful natural vocals and the best bass I have experienced in something of this size. Mark & Daniel is not a brand that spings to mind in hifi speaker discussions, but they make some quality gear. These Maximus Monitors are bi-wireable, with dual rear ports. (I found that small paint rollers are perfect for port-blocking if required when positioned near a wall - see pic.) The current version is approx. $7k in AUD. The cabinet is formed synthetic marble / ceramic, which is absolutely inert with no internal ringing compared to usual wood-based materials. It is 2-way with an air-motion (AMT) tweeter and long-throw woofer. Plenty of info online. Final Note: In the years since retiring, I've been lucky enough, at various times, to have tried over 100 pairs of speakers (borrowed, owned or demo) in my lounge; I would place these M&D's in the top 5. Can demo and ship - have original boxes. The stands are included for local buyers - no idea if they can be broken down for shipping but are extremely heavy and probably won't justify the shipping cost. RFS: Re-purchased my old Martin Logan Ascent ESLs. Should never have sold them......

Martin Logan Owners and Discussion Thread
robin-hobart replied to infernosix's topic in Speakers, Soundbars and Subwoofers
Thought I'd rejuvenate this old thread.... Back in 2014 I sold my ML Ascent speakers - one of the worst decisions in my entire hifi life. Then, a month ago, I re-purchased them; from the guy I sold them to; the very same pair. I know they are 20+ years old - almost certainly out of spec, panels tired, etc. But at this point (having fiddled with well over 100 pairs of speakers over the last 20 years) they sound wonderful to my old ears. Air, detail, speed, clarity, natural vocals. I know these things are coloured, & have their faults, but for my tastes, they remain my best ever speaker experience. -

MONA's "Spectra" light from Hobart's Northern suburbs. Blurry hand-held 3-sec exposure on phone cam, but still quite striking with the low cloud. -
EXPIRED Tannoy HPD 315 Speakers
robin-hobart replied to Kostandinos's topic in Stereo, Home Cinema, Headphones Components
Aha! A friend has done a dig and updated me. Never too old to learn! Seems these are Tannoy Mansfields. [I've haunted Tannoy sites for years & never heard of them.] Here's a couple of links. https://www.hifispeaker.wiki/item/tannoy-mansfield-hpd315 https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/tannoy/mansfield.shtml A rare offering indeed. -
EXPIRED Tannoy HPD 315 Speakers
robin-hobart replied to Kostandinos's topic in Stereo, Home Cinema, Headphones Components
Hello; A point of curiosity from an owner of Cheviots - which use the 315 driver. Is the cabinet ported? It doesn't appear to be from the photos. Yet seems to be original Tannoy. To the best of my knowledge, all the HPD series were designed for front-ported Bass-Reflex cabinets. Can you clarify? Ta. -

Help to ID very thin-wire Interconnects
robin-hobart replied to robin-hobart's topic in Power, Cables & Electronics
Bingo - I think youve cracked it sir! Morrow sounded about right to my vague memory - but their current range looks nothing like 'em. However, when I Googled, found the below image under flickr labelled 'morrow interconnects'. A perfect match. Interestingly, this is the only image of this old model that I turned up. I feel 95% sure that Morrow is correct - from reading their 'Cable Owners Manual', it appears that they are still using very thin wires under the outer mesh. Their current range just don't look thin. Am very appreciative! Cheers to everyone! -
Help to ID very thin-wire Interconnects
robin-hobart replied to robin-hobart's topic in Power, Cables & Electronics
Not Monster - nor was it a tech-sounding name. They only made these super-thin interconnects. Wasn't a big company. Could have been a surname - and possibly started with an M in fact. Maybe.... Thanks all for trying - maybe something will come to light.
