Great Buys On Ebay, Gumtree, Marketplace etc.
monaro8 replied to Drizt's topic in General Hi-Fi & Beginners Discussion
It seems to happen every time we have a long weekend or some sort of holidays. People chuck a bid on or do a Buy It Now on Ebay while they are away on holidays. Then they go off having another few beers or scratching their nuts or whatever they are doing and forget about their purchase until they get back home from hols.....not even a courtesy message to the seller! Eventually they remember they bought something and decide to contact the poor seller who's been left hanging for days and days with no reply..... The buyer thinks... "OK I won that item...it's mine now so I can go back to having a good time...bugger it, I'll sort it out later when I'm home in a few days...it's in the bag" OR.... just prior to the holidays, long week end or whatever...someone lists a nice item on Ebay then GOES AWAY!! Interested buyers are asking for details etc etc and the seller is GONE AWOL for maybe a week or more and fails to check their messages. Why the F...hell would you list anything knowing you are going away??? Hate that..... -
Good to hear you were able to rectify the issue by levelling your turntable, I guess lots of others would not have realised that would cause such a change to the balance between left & right channels. Sometimes an imbalance could also be due to an issue with a faulty cartridge and this should also be checked when an imbalance is detected. You were lucky to find out that it was a levelling issue before having to go to more extremely measures and drive yourself completely crazy.... Well done to mention it hear and possibly assist others with a similar problem.

Got some good news mate.... Spoke to my neighbour yesterday... Here's the news...he & I have collaborated and we think we can scrounge up enough cash to buy one each. Hook them up with some decent cables to play them simultaneously through one amp..... Only issue though is we will both need to stand in my driveway to hear them in proper stereo.... :bump: No good on rain days though....

Good luck Trev, I had the honour & pleasure to visit Trev a while ago and listen to these beauties...Superb! I also had the dishonour & (serious) displeasure in accidentally inserting a 300B tube the wrong way into my J.Sound Labs amp and cooked it within about 1.5 milliseconds...she's a smoker!! Yes, you may recall that incident...yes that was me.......how could anyone insert a 300B in the amp the wrong way you ask....obviously wasn't too difficult when you're not paying attention to what you're doing!! Hey I'm (sort of) over it now, only cost me a measly $340.00 slap in the back of the head to get my lovely amp repaired. Anyways, as I was saying, the Z's sounded absolutely superb...and a real bargain now. I'm sure Trev would invite & welcome an audition. Good luck and all the best Trev. Cheers...Vanch...

Who does TT setups in Melbourne
monaro8 replied to Keith Anderson's topic in Turntables, Record Players & Vinyl
Oh that is a happy ending I must say, yes Indeed.... I like happy endings I felt the love.... Still puzzled about...Owners Do?? Maybe it meant... Owners do need some help sometimes Owners do DooDoo Owners do and Owners don't...do they? Or don't they...some do...some don't...others do...others don't....But do Owners do what Others do not? :bump: -
No budget?? Everyone has a budget and this budget will determine what you get. $1,000 for a turntable? Maybe $500.00 Under $500.00....say $250.00? Is colour a factor to match in with your current gear? Size...some TT's are quite large (I like nice firm small TT's myself.... ...oops!) So cummon, cough it up...how high would you go for a TT? Then we can offer sensible suggestions and try to help you find a good one to suit your needs. Thx...Vanch...

Another crushing online buying experience

So sorry to hear of these easily rectifiable packing issues for records. In doing so, I got a smacking brainwave slap to the side of my head...the right side if you must know.... How hard would it be to ask them to pack your beloved purchase into an empty......PIZZA BOX....wrapped in bubble wrap...or old newspaper etc. I think a Large pizza box should be the right size...NO...a Family size box...yes a Family sized pizza box to be safe. I'm sure the seller could persuade the local pizza guy to give or sell him an empty unused Family size pizza box. If the seller was a tight-ass, maybe he could meander down to the local pizza shop one night...hang around for a while outside and wait for someone to emerge with a Family sized pizza they just purchased. He could follow them to their home and wait about half an hour outside the front door of their house...listen to them eating that yummy hot pizza (I love mine with lots of hot salami) At the right moment, the seller could ring their door bell...he could pretend he is from the local Council.... he could say something like... "Good evening Sir, I'm from your local Shite Stink Council and am here to warn my local constituents of a recent outbreak of fart and mouth disease...yes, that's right, fart and mouth disease. Contracted from coming into to contact with, or eating a pizza...correct Sir, a pizza. Must be avoided at all cost...have you had a pizza recently? Oh!! You have, damn shame that" "If so, and if you still have the pizza box, I will need to confiscate it immediately for laboratory testing." There you go...free Family size pizza box for safe packing and shipping of a beloved LP. Problem solved..... -

Thanks guys, the first place I searched was Vinyl Engine....it does not have any information on this model cartridge. Have looked & looked for any information on Google Search with little success...not even one photo of this cartridge anywhere so I was hoping someone here might have known about it or had owned one in the past. No luck so far.... -
Hello members, I've acquired this rare wonderful sounding cartridge with excellent condition stylus and am keen to find out more info. about it. Moving Flux design....sounds kind of sexy..... Sonically it has creamy midrange with airy highs....nice well rounded bass....vocals are especially wonderful. Have searched the internet with little success. I believe it to be one of the very high end models produced by Glanz So, does anyone know anything about this beauty? Thank you....Vanch...

Good morning Nathan, any luck sorting out your microswitch problem? I have the same TT as you and it, thus far, is working properly. You will need to remove the bottom cover...you will see the switch...it's a red colour from memory. You will see that when you (carefully) move the tonearm toward where the end of the record would be, that a part of the internal mechanism touches & presses on the switch...it looks like a small button on the microswitch. Maybe a good spray with contact cleaner may help if there is dust etc affecting the switch. If this does not help then possibly the switch is buggered. See how you go. Good luck....Vanch....
