  1. As per the title, I am after a Logitech Squeezebox classic, preferably a V3, want to pay about $120 thanks in advance mark
  2. Thanks Snowdownunder, however I still need the hardware. Valvster, thats a good thought, however i have a bunch of rare punk stuff that won't be out there. I have already ripped my CD's to flac, and was thinking about the Sqeezebox Touch when i see one at a low enough price
  3. Hi all Not sure where best to post this, hence am starting off here. I have a bunch of records (40-60) from my late teens/early 20's (mostly late 70's and early 80's) that have been packed away since I first got a CD player back in '89. I am finally thinking about revisiting my youth, such as it was, and want to listen to them again, but don't want to purchase a decent turntable etc due to both the cost and space. Also I have doubts about how well looked after they were by my younger self Does anyone know of a decent usb turntable worth getting, cos I can then resell it once I have recorded the disks, or could I borrow/rent/whatever a proper TT and amp and go direct into my laptop via my sound card. Suggestions/ideas? thanks in advance Mark
  4. for what its worth, I have a Topfield TF5000PVR Masterpiece, and it has worked flawlessly for the past 4/5 years or so. I decided with more and more HD on tv and some movies only available on HD, combined with the fact that I have a 42" HD screen, it was time to upgrade, so went with the Sony PS3 with the live tv plugin. Pffft, bloody hopeless, it has twin HD tuners, but will only record on one of them, not both, forever freezes and pixelates or loses the signal when recording too, and the picture wasn't really much/any better to my tired old eyes. So it was back to the toppy, until it gives up the ghost, it's been bullet-proof so far.
  5. Despite being proudly introduced to the world in early September, it seems as if Logitech's Squeezebox Touch is still fighting the good fight on its way to mass production. Originally, the device was slated to go on sale this month in order to get wrapped and tucked beneath a-many Christmas tree, but now we've heard directly from the company that it won't be shipping out until February 2010. We took a brief tour around the web, and sure enough, most respected e-tailers aren't showing any stock (or any sign of stock); what's odd is that we know at least a few of these things leaked out onto the market, though the whole "Logitech denying its existence" scenario that we saw play out back in August certainly makes a lot more sense now. Either way, it looks as if you'll be waiting if you're believing the official word, which just so happens to be quoted in full after the break. Statement from Logitech Public Relations: Due to an unexpected product delay, this product will not be available (for review or sale) until February 2010. I apologize for any inconvenience this delay may have caused you. source: ( http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/10/squeezebox-touch-delayed-until-february-bah-humbug/ )
  6. there is a difference between wanting and getting, I do understand that. $1500 is what i want, ok? it's currently on ebay starting from $1250. also a bird in the hand etc etc. my set is here in au, has been sighted by another member, is working, no transformer, extra cable, no gst or import duty or potential ebay hassles thanks for taking the time to read and be interested
  7. the unit is about 18 months or so old. looking at the pricejapan site they don't give a price for my amp, but the headspeakers are the same price as i found on ebay, so Ford must know somewhere a fair bit cheaper
  8. you might was well share the site then, I couldn't find anything quickly other than ebay customs and gst will still take it up a bit, but your point is valid
  9. it's a factory amp, but modified. apparently just needed a spot of rewiring. on ebay i see the similar setup can be had for $2217, including shipping, but then there will be customs and gst added, taking it to around $2500?
  10. one of the final bumps, on Ebay with 3 days to go...
  11. saw TF2 last night, glad i didn't pay extra to see it on the big screen. imho not as good as the first, not as funny or subtle, but then again maybe that was the point. did give the speakers a good workout though, then I followed it up with Saving Private Ryan, and only had the energy afterwards for 30 mins of Lord Of The Rings LOL
  12. not unless there is someone else who just wants the amp
  13. an alternative to WDTV, streaming, squeezebox etc? http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2009/10/build-a-silent-standalone-xbmc-media-centre-on-the-cheap/ apologies if this has been discussed already link amended, hopefully
  14. most tempting, but will try and hang out for the Squeezebox touch, even if it will cost twice as much
