Wharfedale Aura 3's were purchased new from The Audio Tailor in Brisbane on 18th April 2024, so nearly 1 year old. They are in mint condition and present as new. They come with all original packaging and extras including spikes, metal floor cups to protect wooden floors etc. Sound quality being a very subjective issue....l would describe these as fairly neutral with a detailed and non fatiguing top end, natural sounding midrange with a solid bass considering the size of the woofers. They have apparently inherited a lot of DNA from the higher Elysian series. I'm selling due to the fact that I think bookshelf's would be better suited to my room. I was intending to buy the Aura 1's but by the time you included the stands it wasn't that big a jump to the 3's. Plus you were getting a lot more speaker with the 3's. I'm happy to supply receipt of purchase to new owner. The buyer is to pay for shipping and insurance but I'm happy to help in any way. Box size per carton: 116cm x 40 cm x 46cm Wt: 25kg/speaker boxed. Happy to answer questions. Thanks for looking. Paul
  1. I like to include the receipt as "available", when I'm selling something reasonably new particularly if its still under warranty, whether transferable or not, as I think it proves to perspective buyers you're fair dinkum and they can feel more comfortable with the purchase. Knowing there's a proof of purchase/ownership; dealer; date; price info etc. definitely makes buyers more confident. I know it does for me. My point being, it aids in the sale of your item particularly if it's a fairly expensive piece. People should really know whether their items warranty is transferable or not. Perspective buyers could do their own research and find that information for themselves but it really looks better coming from the seller to me. I guess some don't want to reveal the price they've paid, if bought on sale etc, as they may be hoping to get similar or more than its original cost. I guess that's up to the individual to decide if that's unconscionable or not. Anyway these are just my thoughts, everyone sees things differently.
  2. SOLD to a gentleman in Brisbane.
  3. Further Information: The amp was purchased new from the HiFi Collector in May 2023.......approx 12months old. The amp is in as new condition.......9/10. This is a wonderful amplifier currently retailing for $14995. These amps have amazing power and resolution. They have the ability to just bring speakers to life in ways other amps can't. Obviously there is a ton of reviews available describing its various qualities. I'm thinking of getting into high sensitivity speakers, hence the idea to sell. Details for shipping: Packaging: 56cm (w) x 33cm (h) x 50cm (d) Weight: 42kg The amp comes with all original packaging and a copy of the purchase invoice will be emailed to the new owner on completion of payment. Happy to help in any way. Thanks for looking. Regards, Paul
  4. Open to offers before I probably trade them in.
  5. Price reduced to $4500. Hopefully a happy Sunday sale!!!!
  6. Further Information: Priced reduced for a happy Sunday sale!!!!! Now $4500 These are still the current model and RRP $11995. I purchased these new from Geoff at Hey Now Hifi on the 2nd June 2022. So approximately 20 months old. The speakers present like new and can't find a mark on the piano gloss black finish. I've attached a photo showing the FS409 specifications. Their dimensions lend them to fitting into smaller spaces but still with a full bodied large speaker frequency response and sound. The bass response goes down to 28hz with the crystalline highs produced by the JET 5 tweeter. An ELAC staple for years. I have previously owned the ELAC BS244 and FS249 speakers and these definitely deserve their place near the top in the current ELAC hierarchy. Speakers come with all original packaging and boxes (spikes, pucks etc) so could be courierd at buyers expense and risk. I'm happy to drop speakers at buyers preferred courier if required. I did check shipping to Syd or Mel with Pack n Send and it was expensive. The purchaser might want to check out how they'll ship if required. The receipt for proof of purchase will be supplied to the new owner on completion of sale. Details for shipping Each packed speaker: Dimensions: 37cm x 39cm x 143cm Weight: 40.6kg Unfortunately the Isoacoustics feet in the photos are not included in the sale. Happy to assist in any way. Thanks for looking. Regards, Paul
  7. Hi Wayneo, With your budget, you are so in the box seat to put together a wonderful system. It really just depends on which direction you head in. I wouldn't think you could go wrong with either the Storm Audio and I'll bet the Nad is spectacular. That wasn't available when I bought the JBL unfortunately. If you're up for a bit of serious reading regards Dirac Live ART the thread in Audio Calibration under the AV Receivers, Multi Channel Amps & Processors Forum is interesting. It'll give you a heads up on what these processors are capable of system calibration wise. I've yet to hear what Dirac can do but I'm very intrigued to hear the result. Once again all the best in your search. Regards, Paul
  8. Hi Wayneo, Just to put another cat amongst the pigeons. As another idea/suggestion you could change out the AVM90 for something like the Storm Audio ISP Core 16 processor or the Trinnov 16 or 32. With your budget you could achieve this and possibly trade in the AVM 90 and still have funds over to buy a really great power amp. I would add that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Anthem. I had a MRX receiver which started me down a whole different direction regarding 2 channel and multi/surround sound due to the ARC Genesis that Anthem use. The main reason I mentioned the Storm Audio they are about to release their latest processors with Dirac ART which is supposedly the new standard for calibration. Also this would enable you to run your system the same as present regards hdmi connection etc. I presume the Storm and Trinnov would be a step up in sound quality from the Anthem. You would also have the addition of amazing multi channel music and surround sound for movies if you wish in the future. Unfortunately I have heard neither processor. I ended up buying the JBL Synthesis SDP 58 processor and love it. The JBL comes with Dirac Live + Bass Control. I am soon to have my system calibrated professionally and am very excited to hear the result. The JBL replaced a PS Audio BHK Signature preamp and I enjoy the sound quality of the JBL more. I have kept the PS Audio BHK 250 power amp as I love its sound. There is an interesting thread in the AV Receiver, Multi Channel Amps & Processor forum entitled "High end AV Processor advice" Might be worth a read. Anyway sorry about the long rave but you have so many options open to you. I thought I would just add this to the mix. This is just my opinion and I wish you all the best in your search. Regards, Paul
  9. I have to totally agree with Marc's comment. I received my JBL SDP 58 processor a couple of weeks ago and use it in my system as a two channel preamp and surround sound processor. It replaced a fairly expensive and very well regarded tube based preamp and I love it. I actually prefer the JBL in 2 channel duties compared to the other. The sound quality is amazing. I haven't even used Dirac processing yet which I'm hoping will take things next level. I use the JBL as my Roon Ready device connected via WiFi to my internet. Using it this way compared to running Roon from my pc based music server to my previous pre, the JBL just sounds better. I still connect my music server to the JBL via coaxial digital to use JRiver and Tidal and the sound quality is excellent as well. I'm getting my system professionally calibrated using Dirac in the JBL for 2 channel music and surrond sound after xmas. Very much looking forward to this. I really feel these new processors are incredible and worthy of serious consideration if your upgrading your system. Particularly if you want to use the one solution for your 2channel and movie systems. Obviously this is just my opinion. Regards, Paul
  10. Hi Jim, Totally agree with your comments. They're an excellent receiver. Also agree that someone will get a bargain and someone has........a gentleman from Canberra has just bought it!!!! The Anthem is now SOLD. Thanks to the SNA'ers that showed interest. Regards, Paul
  11. Hi Maury, Thanks for your interest. I have a buyer and am just awaiting payment. I'll certainly let you know if it doesn't work out. Regards, Paul
  12. Price has been reduced to $875.
  13. Just some added info about this receiver. Tony O'Brien (hope he doesn't mind me mentioning his name), of Clarity Calibration and contributing writer for StereoNet, was calibrating my Sony TV approx 3yrs ago when I mentioned I was looking to upgrade my Pioneer receiver. He recommended the Anthem receivers and in my price range the MRX 720 was the choice. It has performed beautifully for movies and surround sound listening and surprisingly well in 2 channel stereo music. I am selling the unit as I have become very interested in multi channel music and room correction. I have replaced the MRX 720 with the JBL SDP 58 processor at significant cost. I have a theory regarding what caused the issue with the Anthem, mind you as a disclaimer, I'm not a technician or electrical engineer so please take this with a very large grain of salt!!!!! At the same time as the Anthem got its fault, Energex-the company that supplies and maintains the electricity grid in SE QLD were upgrading power poles in our street. They were doing this work in anticipation of Stage 3 of the Tramline between Broadbeach and Burleigh Heads. They had a massive generator on the back of a semi trailor parked in our street for several days supplying power to the neighbourhood. While all this was happening I received a new PS Audio BHK 250 amplifier. For some reason the amp kept blowing one of its fuses. The distributor seemed to think the only thing it could be is perhaps fluctuating voltage in my area as this was unusual for this amp. I think this is what has caused the issue with the Anthem also. Anyway, sorry about the long rave. After several days Energex finished their work and took the massive generator away and that's when the problems stopped. The PS Audio has never missed a beat since but maybe it also caused the Anthem's problem. As I said all this is speculation and none of my other equipment had any issues. Finally, I think these receivers are excellent and hoping it can go to a good home. All the repairs have been done through official channels, so hopefully it's even better than new. Thank you, Paul
  14. Further Information: I purchased the MRX 720 receiver from The Digital Picture on August 2020. There is no warranty remaining. The unit is in excellent condition and includes remote, manual, mic for ARC Genesis room correction and all original packaging. For complete transparency, the unit has had a repair under warranty this year. The unit was powering on for several minutes and then switching off. The repairs were approved by Audio Active, distributor for Anthem, and carried out by their approved repairer AV Digitec in Brisbane. The unit has been working perfectly ever since. For those interested I have attached the invoice from AV Digitec showing the repairs carried out. The receiver has an extensive feature set and excellent sound quality for music and movies. I have the original purchase invoice and am happy to pass that on if requested. Happy to answer any questions. Thanks for looking. Regards, Paul
  15. I have reduced the price to $3250. RRP on these is $6990. Thanks, Paul
  16. Further Information: The unit was purchased from HiFi Collector on the 24th May 2023 so approx. 6 months old. Presents in as new condition complete with original packaging, remote etc. The Canor DAC 2.10 uses 4 x EH6922 valves on the output stage hand selected by Canor themselves. It uses the ESS Sabre ES 9038Q2M Dacs in dual mono configuration. It has seven digital filters to apply in the PCM format and one proprietary filter for MQA. The filters all make subtle differences in sound quality. There is also an Upsampling facility and Re-clocking function. Best to look at Canor's description of these functions than for me to try and describe them for you. I can say with certainty they do enable you to further tailor the sound to your personal taste. I will also supply a copy of the receipt on purchase of the dac. Thanks for looking. Regards, Paul
  17. Hi franky995, I have sent you a pm regards the sale of my Gustard R26. Regards, Paul
  18. Hi @xlr8or Kirk, Unfortunately I missed out on this pair. I got a few bids in amongst the rush at the end. The price went from$80 to $150 within about a minute. I just couldn't get my bid on!!!! Thanks again for your help. Regards, Paul
  19. Hi Deepthought, I have sent pm with intent to purchase.
  20. @xlr8orHi Kirk, Thanks for the heads up on these. I have little experience when purchasing off ebay particularly when it's going to auction. I also sent you a pm. Thanks again. Paul
  21. @xlr8orHi Kirk, Sorry, I should have been more specific in the gear Im using. At this stage I would like to only change the 12au7 valves in my PS Audio BHK preamp. I know these suit many variations of the 12au7 valve but was hoping you would be able to help get the most suitable valve available. It seems the consensus of opinion on the stock Psvane 12au7 in the BHK pre are a bit bright and edgy with most people tending to tube roll them. That's where I was hoping you may find something. As always any help mostly appreciated. Regards, Paul
  22. Hi Steven valve, Thanks for the info. I'll definitely look into those. Unfortunately I'm not that knowledgeable about what particular valves are better. I'll check these variants for sure. Regards, Paul
  23. @xlr8orHi Kirk, I was hoping you may be able to find me a pair of 12au7's or similar for use in either PrimaLuna or PS Audio gear. Silver Audiophile has got me into some wonderful valves but I figure he may be sick of me annoying him all the time. Any help would be mostly appreciated. Regards, Paul
  24. Thanks to everyone for their interest. The amps are now sold.
