  1. I'm guessing you're after something like the A09? If you get the opportunity you should have a listen of the older stuff. My gateway drug into hifi was when my father in law lent me his old SA-8800 that made my mini system speakers sing like I'd never heard before. From memory, I'd describe the amp as sounding euphonic. And the blue meters were super cool. I might try and get that old amp back into my system one day if he's willing to part with it, and I can fly it over to Sydney.
  2. I hope they can reverse it. The community and shared experiences are what this site is all about. Posts like yours are the best content. If they muck with that then this will just turn into a glorified buy n sell that just regurgitates marketing spiel as news. And enthusiasts might go elsewhere to meet and share and that would be a loss.
  3. "Comparison is the thief of joy" surely applies to hifi. My trick is not having any audio friends
  4. I'm still running the DAC-19 DSP and C2 as an office setup. Never had to opportunity to hear further up the line but see them listed now and then and they're good buying used these days.
  5. From what I gathered on the internet, the Orea and Pucks perform that same but the Orea look more premium and are priced accordingly. I'm using Pucks under my speakers and am happy with the improvement and cost. I found the sound was a little more focused than without them. Never tried the Orea so can't offer a comparison.
  6. Reviving this thread. Has anyone used the 15w Bakoon with Tannoy HPD385 and can comment on how it performs? I have a pair of Berkeleys and am considering a change. Ta.
  7. I've been using a pair of SoundPEATS TrueFree2 for running. They've lasted 4 years so far. Sound quality is average, but when outdoors there's a lot of ambient noise anyway and I'm just happy to have some tunes to run to, and it has some weatherproofing.
  8. No doubt, but a new Pi5 + hat + case would be comparable with one of the Wiims. And I am trying to get away from paying a subscription for a buggy Volumio to use Tidal connect. Can SnakeOils OS do Tidal out of the box?
  9. It's certainly very hard to look past Wiim for value. I use a DIY RPi2 as a streamer into a standalone dac. Don't notice much difference between Tidal vs my cd player as a transport TBH. Maybe my ears are lacking... I fully support this streamer showdown.
  10. This is very interesting, thank you. Also surprising, since Eversolo was everywhere and well reviewed for a time (but maybe that was the A6). I am looking for a streamer and there are so many options its doing my head in. Wondering if there is much difference between the Wiim level devices and something further up the food chain like the CA CXN100.
  11. The power button seems out of place when they use switches for all the other functions. Not a fan of the design TBH, but would like to hear how it sounds.
  12. Just purchased Fallout 4 GOTY edition for Steam via a reseller for $12.08, which is quite a bit cheaper than its selling on Steam directly. Installing now...
  13. I am just starting to watch the TV series, and haven't played any Fallout game before. Is Fallout 2 the best one to start with?
  14. I have a pair of vintage Tannoys so this is so interesting to me. You must have have a lot of space to collect these monsters. I might pick your brain over in the owners' thread later rather than mess up this WTB. Cheers.
  15. I don't have any Yorkminsters to offer, but curious to know what you are looking for that the Canterbury or Kensingtons aren't providing?
  16. Further Information: Transparent, passive LDR preamp. Lots of info on this site and elsewhere.

  17. I didn't know amp envy was a thing until this thread.
  18. Extra Info: Looking for IsoAcoustics Orea Bordeaux Component Isolators for my speakers. Thanks.
  19. Thanks for the offer @andyr, that's very kind of you, but I don't want to risk damaging it. I'm sure if there was an impact to sound qualify you would've pick up on it. I think the option from @surprisetech might be the way to go, since I only need RCA input and it suits my beer budget. Thank you all for the suggestions.
  20. That looks good @pete_mac All I could find were toslink switches. I mostly use 2 inputs, sometimes 3. @andyr is there any noticeable change in the sound through your switch?
  21. I have a DAC with a single RCA input and switch between different sources by swapping RCA cables. Wondering what devices do members use to switch digital inputs? So far I've come across this, but looking for something more towards the shallow end of the pool if possible. https://exclusive-audio.jp/en/products/cap1006
  22. Thanks @pete_mac Can't trust anything these days it seems.
  23. SYD McIntosh MC250 $1000 https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1083782089343192/ Not sure how much of a bargain this is but.
  24. I have an Audio Note Dac 3 that I believe uses the PCM63 chip. It's been in storage since it was serviced by the AN distributor. PM if you're interested. Cheers.
  25. I was a long time Moode Audio user and only just switched to Volumio over the weekend. Reason for the switch was that I couldn't get Spotify to work with Moode. I must say, Volumio setup is a lot more seamless than Moode, and Spotify works! However, I did get the impression that the Volumio audio quality is a little subpar compared t what I remember of Moode. Interesting that you mention the same.
