Gustard DAC-R26: R2R Ladder DAC with Ethernet
Peterbean replied to Nada's topic in Digital Sources, DACs, and Computer Audio
I’ve been playing with one of these but it has no lan input, is that right? I’m assuming the aerial is for Bluetooth streaming, not for wireless connectivity, or am I wrong ? -

Who has a dedicated room?
Peterbean replied to 075Congo's topic in General Hi-Fi & Beginners Discussion
Hi mate i think the best thing is soft curtains/blinds . glass is going to be reflective but you want sunlight. You only need to draw them in serious listening. Symetry is important too - gyprock and paintings on canvas, and soft furniture are absorbent, and good in a domestic listening space. Windows, hard furniture hard floors, pictures behind glass are all reflective, hence boomy . However i sometimes wonder if hifi gear is designed to compensate for that -

The famous giant killer dac from Chekoslavakia- the okto dac 8 stereo Reviewers across the audio spectrum have fallen in love with this gorgeous sounding creature. Reviewers have praised the sound as extraordinarily clean and transparent, with a huge soundstage Stereophile loved it and so did the guy with the Audio Science web site. Notably many have claimed that it is the equivalent of $20000 dacs- ie it will s—t all over all the other things being advertised in this category. But you can can ignore it and go ahead and throw 4 times the cost of this at some fancy pants number. These are not available in Oz so normally you would have to pay around $350 ( cost to ship from the US). I paid a total of $2095 to bring it in. The original Apple Remote it came with was shocking and made operation and set up a shocker. However I have replaced it with a bigger one and it’s all hunky dory There are couple of issues. That can be solved by anyone who is more it/tech oriented 1.,pi streamer- I can’t understand how the streamer works. It’s there but requires a different brain to mine to bring it to life or a seperate streamer- the Wii is probably equivalent to the p 2. the guy i bought it from assured me the software was up to date. This allows playback of SACD. I have downloaded it but can’t work out how to install it. i expect that anyone who is a bit technical wouldn’t have any problems getting the streamer going the second hand price of these is around $1760., I’m keen to sell and can negotiate note- This is ASIO compatible ( good potential for jokes here) Run on Room but you can change to Volumio if you prefer it comes with 2 remotes, the original, and a much bigger white one that is much easier to find around the house. In Roon - Audio, Roon can see the dac 8 but can’t initialise it. There are lots of solutions on the web. I suspect that I need to get in to the raspberry pi but that’s beyondme https://www.stereophile.com/content/okto-dac8-stereo-da-processor-page-2 -
I caught the Wheatus unplugged. Tour - wowwhat a night. I know almost nothing about the band but had a great night. Just the main guy, guitar and vocals, and the woman singer plus an Aussie vocalist . a by request tour, very casual, light hearted fun. Plus 3 supports made it something of a gala event way recommended

The FR 7 is one of the greatest Japanese cartridges, regarded as Ikeda’s masterpiece ive been enjoying this cartridge for some time, it sounded beautiful and seems to suit all types of music sadly the stylus had an unfortunate derailment and is no more. With cartridge retipping starting under $700, you will get yourself a $2.5k cartridge for $1300 Alternatively I am interested in swapping for a similar quality and condition Mc that is lighter ( under 8gm ) and shorter- under or just above 15mm). We will each need to pay stereonet a fare fee -

It’s been wide spread in the US for years/ even hifi stores price speakers with individual rather than the pair price-but they probably won’t sell a single speaker -

Thank you for the answers folks. I’ve had a robust long weekend i wanted to get general answer that can be applied that people are in agreement on in my experience if people mention specific brands there can be a massive opionisation event -
Ok so would all non nad streamers do high res flac then? I’ve heard good things about Wiim
-
And yes I have tried the records on other decks and they are fine any advice welcome!

Streaming quality. I have chosen Tidal for its high res music. however now that my dac tells me about what’s playing, it seems that it’s all 44mhz pcm the signal is going through a Bluesound n130, and the app sees it However If i open the blue sound app and play it from there it is typically 88mHz, I started having trouble with it all and now I can’t open tidal in Bluesound rebooting it all now in the BS instructions it seems that noo you have to start in tidal then link it to tidal for each new session ?

I’ve been using blue sound for streaming for several years , mainly playing tidal. I’m back to the N130:after a break, and it can’t open tidal . It tries but it just can’t do it. Tidal I running through it to the stereo via a dac. The dac says that the tidal signal, even on max, it’s only 44hzpc. On the other hand on the rare occasion when the blue sound plays tidal it’s at least 88nhz, so I’m keen to get that happening -
Dendy are showing it in iMax . I have never been to one, seems a bit unnecessary. Anyone have an opinion about this?
