The rising price of records
zog replied to Addicted to music's topic in Turntables, Record Players & Vinyl
Especially if you are into mid 70s German Schlager and Polka records!! (from a quick sampling of my local op shop vinyl section) edit: I did purchase the MOOG PLAYS THE BEATLES record.. how could I resist for $2!! .. it was apparently made by someone who despised both synthesizers and the beatles .. though I confess the version of "Michelle" has grown on me -

low cost second hand vinyl digitising setup I'm more a digital audio person but I have a bunch of old records I wanted to listen to and record for my digital DJ rig, etc. Plus some techno releases are still "vinyl only" and I wanted a way to access them. Purchased this little setup, it's been a lot of fun and with the right records sounds pretty good. Stanton ST.150 direct drive turntable, $280 second hand. 16 kilograms! Ortofon Club-1 Club MkII Concorde Cartridge, new Schiit Mani preamp - loaner (the Stanton also has a built in preamp, and I have a Behringer VMX-300 DJ mixer with a phono preamp, as other options) into Allen&Heath ZEDi10 mixer with ADC for recording.

I have Crowdstrike running on Linux and MS-windows servers (all the MS ones died on Friday and I unjammed them). It has worked extremely well on both platforms for my limited "newb" experience up until 4PM last friday afternoon. Crowdstrike have pushed out buggy versions of their Linux software as well in the past, though it didn't hit as badly as this incident. https://www.neowin.net/news/crowdstrike-broke-debian-and-rocky-linux-months-ago-but-no-one-noticed/ That said recent updates of how Crowdstrike works on Linux should make this harder to happen: https://nondeterministic.computer/@mjg59/112816011370924959

a bit of link rot for the mods to these speakers but thanks to the web archive they can be found here https://web.archive.org/web/20160319131515/http://gr-research.com/insigniaupgrade.aspx mentioning this as I'm making an attempt to de-hoard. So these are for sale in the classifieds "as is".

Further Information: These speakers look OK but sounded very thin. I have not performed any mods to them. IMHO nothing special except there was a whole DIY mod thing about them ages ago. Now I see the pics I made they are a bit dusty, but have been stored in a box with some padding since I purchased them and not used. I tested them when I purchased them, they worked. I have not tested them since. There are a range of improvement projects documented "on the web" for upgrading the cabinet and crossovers for those who want to play with a DIY audio project. I got them on ebay at a good price, then got obsessed with waveguides and they have basically been gathering dust in my garage ever since. https://web.archive.org/web/20160319131515/http://gr-research.com/insigniaupgrade.aspx

it was something to do with using some heavy adhesive caulking type stuff to fill up the the inside of the cabinet, but the mods for these do seem to be suffering a bit of internet memory loss mentioning as I'm clearing out a pair I never got around to modding, so was hunting through the site.

some outstanding stuff in this thread, a lot of my favourites already mentioned, I'll have to work through the ones I haven't heard.. here's a recent dubtechnoish DJ mix I did (first hour of this soundcloud spot).. .. on the audio gear side one of my first excursions using a DENON PRIME GO standalone DJ thingo..

could you at least cater for us digital types and release it on 5.25 floppy disk to get with the modern era?

Amapiano - minimal chilled house subgenre from South Africa.. example DJ mix...

the plethora of distributions to choose from can be both the strength and weakness of Linux. Xubuntu (Ubuntu with XFCE as the desktop environment) has been my preferred "daily driver" for a long time.
-
I haven't used them.. They appear to be fixed Xover frequency (2200hz unless you request otherwise) while the specified Xover freq for those speakers is mentioned in one link as 3khz 18db/oct. A measurement mic and a more configurable Xover might be better if you don't have everything measured and calculated already in advance?

Did you match the original cabinet volume? or model the speaker cabinet? Though if it has plenty of bass sounds like the sizing is good.
