  1. In Canada late last year
  2. HIpster kit, have heard the amp, was average, and the cast platter on the TT is agricultural (I realise this is to do with the aesthetic but just not good enough for the price). Speakers might be ok?
  3. that's why the EMT 997 is so great, look phenomenal, sound better.
  4. obsolete i believe, no second hand bits either
  5. How did you go? (just saw this thread, I'm a BJJ black belt).
  6. Hi Bill. I have a pair of the RK115 (similar to the RK15 pic you posted but better) and they are, as you say, the finest sounding fullrangers I've met. Super fast, agile and thrilling with more than decent bass which is rare. Their stock cabinets are probably their only real caveat, they deserve better but even so they'll hand a new arse to any Audio Nirvana, Goodmans, Lowther (Wharfedale, seriously??) I've heard. They are hard to find though, better do some eBay France stalking if you're serious. You're welcome to come and have a listen if you ever make it back to Sydney Cheers D
  7. Item: Don Garber Fi 45 Stereo 45 Class A Power Amp Location: Sydney Price: 5900 AUD Item Condition: As new Reason for selling: too good for me Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Bank Deposit Extra Info: Delivered a month ago, built specifically for me by Don Garber In New York, 220-240V wired. World beating looks and sound, hand made and now using top spec Hashimoto transformers (formerly Don used Magnaquest). Incredible sound, amazing ease and detail, walks all over any Shindo I've heard. These have a 2.5 year build waiting list and when I ordered it I was also having some big horns built... money and circustances have changed and I am now using speakers at home that only big wattage can satisify. This Fi45 puts out about 2.5-3watts full class A per channel into an 8 ohm load - it's wired for 8ohm but can be changed to different loads depending on your requirements. I'm already kicking myself for this, extremely rare. Included are perfect Emission Labs solid plates 45 tubes - sound fantastic, excellent bass and clarity. Included to are the 2 x6SFSGT National Union vintage tubes and 1 x Hitachi 5Y3GT Don supplied. Stock power cable included, original letter and all packaging. Price for these now is US $5K + 2 year wait + import duties, taxes (and without 45 tubes as Don doesn't supply them) so jump the queue. Pictures:
  8. Shindo leaded cloth mat, amazing thing, weighs about a kilo and looks a bit like tweed fabric.
  9. It's an interesting read, though the writing is terrible - doesn't smack of high quality control.
  10. Hi Bill, no Shindo parts in mine except for his leaded cloth mat, I sometimes use that and sometimes a copper mat. The platter is slightly oversize by Ray Clarke and the bearing is a Redbeard. I've tried a lot of different bearings and still think this is my favourite. The arm is an EMT 997, similar to Neil's except mine has the SME pin and Ortofon G shape headshell fitting rather than the standard EMT short fitting. I'm a big believer in the LignoLab plinth, it's a really carefully tuned part of the whole equation.
  11. Beautiful, Willco, as others have said. Though I don't own the whole Shindo set, and have gone down a different path plinth-wise, I do own a leaded Shindo mat, I concur, it's amazing.
  12. As does spinning the single "Ben" by Michael Jackson at 33, becomes a soul ballad
  13. Not a rare co-incidence at all, NS1000s are plentiful on the second hand market and many that I've seen over the years still have their original tags on the back. Yes, they're both black pairs (um…) but obviously different pairs
  14. yes yes yes yes yes, wading through posts? Wonderfully ironic.
  15. Cheap! Only $5,500-6,000 putting them deep into EMT 997 territory.
  16. Old thread but I'm in love with these Norma Hylee arms at the moment, perfect with a 301 and one of the best I've heard.
