WTB: Speaker stands (BNE)
dwbc replied to doofdoof's topic in Stereo, Home Cinema, Headphones Components
I have got this which is not being used any more. In pretty much the same condition as when I got them. Would like to get my money back if possible, plus any shipping cost from Sydney. I will make sure they are properly packed for posting. From memory they are 600mm tall, so not sure if that meets your need. http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php?/topic/44999-sold-fs-dynaudio-stand3-speaker-stands/ -

Great Buys On Ebay, Gumtree, Marketplace etc.
dwbc replied to Drizt's topic in General Hi-Fi & Beginners Discussion
I saw one popped up on gumtree last night for under 2K if I recall. Seems to be a different seller as they are in different cities. Funny how these just all come out of nowhere all of a sudden. -
Another win8 heads up.
dwbc replied to Gordon Macfarlane's topic in Digital Sources, DACs, and Computer Audio
And Yet another "feature" is that upgrade existing Win7 installs to Win8 does not guarantee the new Win8 apps would work, as I found out. Much better once you get the media, to do a full wipe and a clean install. -

I would like to share what I intended to do with my "battery solution" and was hoping someone would point out if there is anything obvious "don't do this"s. - HTPC built as a desktop computer. - get a battery pack that has a usb (usually a micro usb) input charge port and a USB output port. (Not sure if the Aldi battery pack has such connectors?) - connect the input usb charge port to one of the usb headers on the motherboard (or from the 5V Molex connector) to get its power supply - connect the output of the battery pack to the power pins of a second USB port. - connect a USB DAC to the second USB port, which is effectively powered by the battery. Now, my questions are - - Is it a good idea to be charging and discharging the battery pack at the same time? - Is it a good idea to have a battery pack permanently connected to the 5V power supply on the MB/Modex connector that will run 24/7? Thought I would check before I do damage to my equipment. Thanks for the help.

Interesting topic. I have being wondering myself if hooking up a portable usb type battery pack (thermalake makes one) for charging iPhones to USB port to provide power would make any difference? Better still, have it charged via the 5v Molex connector on a desktop pc constantly. All of these because I am getting the hiface 2 adapter... Sound insane......

HiFace 2 vs Asus Xonar Essence ST
dwbc replied to dwbc's topic in Digital Sources, DACs, and Computer Audio
@automated - thanks for the heads up. I am using it primarily for audio, but it is worthwhile keeping that in mind. At least I wouldn't be too surprised when it happens.... @twwen2 - Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I have gone ahead and bought a HiFace2 and will see how I go. It certainly was a hard choice (for me anyways) between the two. Looking forward for it to arrive at the door......... -
Hi, With my fairly limited budget to build a new media PC, the choice of a transport has come down to either of the two devices which I will connect using a Coax digital cable . Has anyone done a comparison between the two, or would share their thought? Ta.

Hi, Interested to know what prompted the choice of Mac Mini over the Air, as I am in a similar situation here too. Good luck with the sale. Cheers!
