  2. Hi Al i forgot to thank you for the reply. I rented a movie to see the quality through fetch and played in Dolby so looks as though you are correct regarding FTA to. cheers
  3. Hi All long time member, first time poster....... i have just set up my fetch tv mighty which is going to my Yamaha AV with a Jaycar splitter between to remove the handshake issue. i am not receiving any Dolby surround from any of the fetch channels. I have the unit set up as 5.1 in sound settings. when watching Netflix it comes up as Dolby on the amp, switch back to streaming channels removes the Dolby and only shows PCM. Any suggestions? cheers jon
  4. Thank you gents! yes, fantastic service and still very happy with my unit!

  6. Hi My Benq w1070+ projector is turning itself off. when turning off, the power and temp button are orange. when turned back on it runs for 15 or so minutes before turning off again. Quick research says to contact Benq - any suggestions? Thanks Jon
  7. Hi All I am considering the upgrade of my AVR to allow for Atmos at some stage. I will move to Dolby Atmos at some stage, but will not be for a while (just purchased first projector and screen) so I don't think the wifey will be happy with additional speakers, but may be able to sneak through an amp if I can sell the current one. So I guess my question is......is it worth while upgrading the amp now or just wait until the roof speakers are a reality and if so, what amp? My current speakers are AV8 and AV8S from Redspade Audio - originally designed for myself as the client. They can take lots of power and I sometimes think they need a bit of extra power. I am happy with the Yamaha sound but I've been considering pre/pro with Wyred For Sound mini multi channel amp for the power. I have read lots of great reviews. Will a newer amp give better room accoustics/corrections using the relevant manufacturers callibration compared to my Aventage amp which is around 4 years old? I remember reading the article from Al regarding his pro callibration kit making such a large difference on his older amp. Details on my current amp are: AVENTAGE AV Receivers: Designed to Deliver the Highest Levels of Audio Performance Aluminum Front Panel Offers Visual and Aural Benefits Anti-Resonance Technology (A.R.T.) Wedge and symmetrical power amplifier layout Rigid chassis with additional bottom frames 7-channel powerful surround sound, 110W per Channel (8 ohms, 20 Hz-20 kHz, 0.06 % THD, 2 ch driven) Access to Internet Radio, Streaming Services and music files on PC AV Controller App for iPhone and iPad, etc and Android application available now 1080p-compatible HDMI: 8 inputs (1 on front) and 2 outputs Front panel USB Digital Connection for iPod and iPhone Advanced multi-language GUI on-screen display with album art YPAO sound optimization with multi-point measurement HDMI CEC with versatile control from AV Receiver remote control HD Audio decoding with CINEMA DSP 3D (17 DSP programs) Versatile Zone control I appreciate any feedback. Cheers
  8. Hi Looking for good quality USB cable to be used from MAC Mini to Audiolab DAC Have been looking at Supra USB Budget around $100 Thanks Jon
  9. thanks mate I have pm'd the person selling. Cheers
  10. Thanks guys for the replies. I am a bit nervous - it looks like the projector will need to be in front of the sitting area by approximately 1.5m. We will be mounting to the roof and a little concerned about the light from the projector. @@Marc do you have the short throw in front of the sitting area? If so, is the light created by the projector annoying? Cheers Jon
  11. Hi I am looking at purchasing a basic projector setup. Will be mainly used for blu-ray at night. I have been looking at the BenQ W1070/+ and a 120" motorised 'the cable connection' screen. Viewing distance is approximately 5m from the screen. Screen will be lowered in front of current TV. I have measured up and the motorised screen will fit in pretty well. Any suggestions, comments? I have read that I would be better off purchasing a better screen straight up, but these screens seem to have a good review. I am sure I will update the projector within 2-3 years, but this is something to get the wife interested in home cinema. We have great audio, but the 60" pana screen isn't quite cutting it for viewing. thanks jon
  12. Firstly, currently watching Daredevil along with a couple of older movies and Dysney stuff for the kids. Secondly, is anyone else having problems with picture dropping quality? I have read where Netflix will drop picture quality rather than buffer which I have noticed. Today it actually started to buffer while watching. Firstly I could really see the difference in the picture while watching House of Cards, then it started to buffer - happened a few time. I have fast enough internet, but no sure if it has something to do with telstra during peak usage??? Cheers Jon
  13. I have Redspade Audio AV8 setup with purpose built Redspade sub. Very happy with the setup and Paul was great to deal with. I am running a yamaha RX-A1010 and it is definitely loud enough. I am currentlyl trialling with a Rotel 200W/Channel power amp, and without the power amp the setup is loud enough.
  14. Hi Guys Pretty basic question here.....I have never used a power amp before. I have set up the power amp to the AVR using correct Pre Out connections and is working. Now the basic questions. Should you hear an instant difference when nearly doubling the power to the speakers? Speakers are customer built Redspade Audio AV8's. Should everything sound louder at the same volume levels - ie -20DB with power amp sound louder than -20DB without power amp? I think I am hearing better detial/depth to both music and movies (only on foxtel as haven't run a blu ray as yet) but doesn't seem any louder. Any help would be appreciated. Feeling pretty dumb at the moment...... Thanks
  15. @@johnmath All sorted, had to install a new booster to aerial with new wall wart - best $100 ever spent. Thanks for the suggestions.
  16. Hi Sorry to hijack the thread....I am also in the market for a 5 channel power amp. Which Rotel did you go for and please advise how you find it. Thanks
  17. Hi Guys This is my living room setup Rotel RA-1570 Apple TV Basic LG Blu Ray B&W 684 Pretty much setup for streaming music all the time I purchased the Rotel to feed the B&W and they are a good match. Cheers Jon

  18. Hi All I have looked at so many other systems on this and have waited and waited, but finally succumb to it..... Mainly pretty basic stuff, but the speakers are AV8's designed by Redspade Audio based on room size. I am waiting on some DIY repairs for the sub.....AV8 Surrounds to the rear Apologise in advance for photo quality....easier to use iPad than real camera..... Cheers Jon

  19. Thanks @@johnmath This never existed when using the AVR without the powered sub and the powered sub is what is making the hum. Would a cable between the amp or sub to the booster make any difference? Is it actually an earth loop issue? Thanks
  20. Hi All I have finally tracked the hum in my system to the signal booster for the aerial - the ones that are plugged into the wall (Kingray PSK08) I tried many many ground looping tips without any luck. I tried removing the foxtel box from the system by removing the coaxial cables, then when the foxtel box died I noticed the hum stopped when I removed the free to air aerial cable. I then thought more about it and tracked it to the booster cable plugged into the wall in another room - thought I was on to a winner and took it to the same power outlet as the rest of the system and unfortunately it didn't work. It can be plugged in and as soon as the actual aerial cable is plugged into the system (into booster and into TV) the hum starts. Remove it at either end and it stops. Any suggestions? It is annoying and frustrating removing the aerial when I want to listen to music or watch a movie - can't live without free to air TV either...... Thanks
  21. The only issue I had with the iPhone 5S cable wasn't the cable, but the new small connection that actually plugs into the wall.. Replced it with one of our other older units with the same cable and worked fine. A mate of mine had the same issue with a 5S too.
  22. Hi @@hochopeper - I gave Paul the dimensions of my room and he designed the AV8's around this sized room with matching AV8 Surrounds
  23. Hi I have now had my purpose built Redspade Audio 4.1 system for a few months. I find it creates a fantastic enveloping sound and don't miss the centre speaker. The only reason I decided to go without the centre speaker was the setup - no decent location to place it other than mounting above the TV. I just have to find the time to get the bass measurements to Paul and finalise the setup. If I ever change the TV setup (currently placed on a buffet because of my girls 2 & 4) I will have one built to match the current speakers. Cheers
