These are among the best speakers I’ve ever heard. However like most the upgrade bug has bitten, also I’m always in the game for something different.. These are a pretty special build with only the finest duelund components used which are well above what Mike even uses in the replacement model ($14.5k without stands) . The capacitors alone are over $1500 a pair now. This pair also have multiple sets of Bybee purifiers bonded directly to the drivers, along with Mikes unique star-drive grounding system, even the cabinet lining gets earthed. Built with the external crossovers to greatly reduce vibration from the crossover components. They also have Mikes premium foil speaker leads wired into the crossover to connect directly to the amp (approx 2m long I’ll measure when I get a minute, may be 2.5m) none of this is standard (or to my knowledge even available)in the new model, I suppose in order to bring costs down. these also come with the latest $2500 stands with the best isolation system built in. I put the RRP as $17k based on the new model with stands, but there’s a solid $5000 worth in the bybees and other upgrades not considered into the figure. If you have an amp to drive these properly (think Big power, high current) they will pressurise a moderately sized room better than most subs, and go down to around 35hz, FLAT (not -6db like most brands casually list like it’s good… this is a 50% reduction compared to other frequencies.. crazy!) They do also respond beautifully to lower powered amps, I’ve run them with my little 300b amp which is only 8w/channel but they don’t provide the same kind of dynamics that a 300w/channel boat anchor does. Will come down to what you want from them.. I think the best I ever heard them was with my old luxman L590ax2 but the HESCHL amp was a lot of fun. condition wise, I’d call them 8/10 there are a couple of very small chips on the bottoms of the speakers, and one or two on the crossovers, there was never packing for them, they”re a solid 100kg a side with stands and crossovers and would need to be palletised to move. They do however fit in a load in my prado and I do have access to plenty of bubble wrap etc, so not impossible to move. ************************************************* Any questions please reach out ramble over. Hey folks, on the hunt for something a little different. ive got Ambience Reference 1800s running twin 7” drivers and a nice ribbon, which I love and have owned for many years. These will only get sold after I decide if the Maggie’s are indeed better. I’ve tried to move away from the Ambience three times and keep coming back to them. They’re not perfect but they’re very close. i”m keen to try a full range ribbon. I’m not in any real hurry and will need some time before I’m ready to go but curious to see if there’s anybody with a set they’re planning to move on soon. ideally would prefer the bigger 20.7s but open to anything on the bigger end at this stage.

I bought this for streaming but don’t like the app, much easier to just use airplay so I’ve gone back to a more basic option. The dac in this is pretty good but I have a mega dollars one it was plugged into anyway very little use
