Wow LJT, this thread has been a great read. Thanks for putting it all together. The speakers look great. How do you find the emotiva gear? Samford? Your just around the corner from me!
I'm very interested on how this thread progresses. In our house (which is being rented at the moment) the area which the theater is has tiled floors and blinds. The echo is very noticable. Treble is harsh, whereas usually it is "lively".
Also I hope this stuff is cat proof, other wise my fur ball will be racing to the skies every chance he gets. And don't ask if he likes speakers. Thankyou.
"Context (system synergy) is almost everything, the other important bit is the listener,"
+1
"System synergy" is the hardest thing to get right. But the most important thing is that it sounds great to you. A great thread is "have you had a hearing test lately?" People hear different things on the condition of their hearing. And of course personal taste. It all comes down to if you like apples or oranges.
LOL. It's worse when the wife is the "deaf" one, not you, even though it's you who is medically deemed "impaired". My left ear is the problem, good thing is, when I put my right ear to the pillow it's goodnight nurse.
This may have what your after. http://shop.emotiva.com/collections/processors/products/umc200. I am on the same lines of thought. I don't need all the extra conections. Just a few rca's and hdmi thank you.
Also their XPA-5 power amp has a good rep. Bonus is their cheap, came across this brand a few days ago on this forum somewhere. Am thinking of replacing my Yamie receiver with this gear.
