  1. thanks for that Al, having read all this and checked those links, i think my subject line is incorrect, i think what im actually asking about is bi-wiring, as frankn said in the second post its shows me exactly how to do it in the speaker manual so i may give it a go and report the results
  2. ok thanks for that ZB so is bi-amping using an electronic crossover done commonly for domestic systems?
  3. Thanks for the suggestions but I got the REL T9 yesterday, it sounded better than the paradigms in my price range to me and it fills this room really well I did check the classifieds cazzesman but didn't see that one unfortunately, may have been an option for sure
  4. thanks EVcali looking at the DSW Pro 660 on ebay for $949, am i allowed to add a link? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/161376504848?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648
  5. an old thread but thought i would add to it ive owned several boats, both moored and trailer boats, the last couple i have imported from the US, this is my current boat, a Grady White 208, i will be keeping this one long term, easily the best boat for its size ive ever come across
  6. any opinions on this brand, in particular their sub's? thanks
  7. Hi, as per the title, im looking for suggestions for a sub somewhere around $1500 to match my Paradigm studio 100's the front runner atm is the REL T9, it is aparantly 'fast' and will help enhance the front speakers thanks
  8. Hi, the amp i have allows me to bi-amp the Paradigm Studio 100's i just bought, is there any reason NOT to do it? the guy in the shop said there would be very little if any benefit except maybe when playing them really loud but its 2 channels in the amp that i will never use otherwise
  9. Hi, For those interested in this thread I spent some money today, i ended up buying a pair of Paradigm studio 100's and a yamaha rx-a 3030 for just under budget (both on sale) I did have the option of getting the tributes (blowing the budget) but actually preferred the sound of the 100's So I know the yamaha is not a hifi amp but it does a good enough job for me and the option of surround is there for the future I obviously didn't get a CD player but again for myself the bluray will do a fine enough job as an all rounder I want to say thanks for all the input from you guys, although I didn't get anything that was directly suggested it was a great help pointing me in the right direction Murray
  10. thanks for that blakey, another brand to look at as far as an amp goes, it is a condition from my wife that i get an amp that she can plug/wifi/bluetooth a mobile device to, any suggestions
  11. Hi again, any opinions on Paradigm speakers in general or in particular the Tribute Floorstanders thanks
  12. yeah probably a dumb question to ask does anyone know if and where i could listen to the S2R's
  13. Hi again, as a follow up to my first thread i have now listened to some speakers and wanted to get an opinion on this putting price aside which speakers would you guys place on top the S2R's as advertised on this site or Atohm GT 1.0's thanks murray
  14. thanks for more replies, just a few questions peacewise thats another interesting option with the twin subs, although i like strong bass i have to consider what time i will be mostly listening...when the kids (and wife) are in bed, will the bass with a set up like that be too much do you think? cafad with those S2R's do they need to be on the stands or can they work sitting on a TV unit? damo i have contacted Cameron and will go to see him where he will run through some setups including the Zu Audio, he seems like a nice bloke does anyone know where i could listen to the A9's or the Osbornes here in Sydney?
  15. thanks for all the replies guys, they all seem to be great suggestions and i appreciate the input, i will be doing research into all of it those Zu Audio look interesting and that shop is fairly local to me, also the JBL sound like they would suit me oppo seems to be a popular choice for a bluray/cd but the package deal suggested by greigw is obviously a bargain thanks illusion youve worked that one out to the dollar, its good to see all the add ons like cables with model nos. and $ wow, its a lot to absorb but keep them coming, thanks
  16. Musical tastes are pretty broad, i listen to everything from classical guitar through to Tool or System of a Down and everything in between (mood dependent), heaps of older stuff like the classics Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Queen... the room is pretty big, 4m x 8m, quite open plan, and tiled i know im asking some very broad questions that are too hard to put definitive answers to, maybe a different approach what do people think of Audio Physic Sitara 25, ive listened to them and can get them on sale, are there better than these for my money given the above thanks
  17. no i would definitely consider 2nd hand gear, i know there is a classified section here i will keep an eye on i totally understand it will come all come down to personal preference but would like to get some ideas of the best brands and models in this price range
  18. Hi there, I have joined this forum as someone never having purchased decent Hi Fi gear, im not totally clueless but am quite overwhelmed with how many options are around and was hoping to get some more advise, suggestions, recommendations, where to buy, etc etc as the topic line says I have a budget of around $6K, been doing some research and I think I want to just stick with the best floorstanding speakers I can get ie. no surround sound stuff so I will be in the market for 1. a pair of speakers 2. an amp 3. a CD player 4. cables I will want to have the system running with the TV and bluray as well as gaming thanks murray
