SMPS for amplification is excellent they way it delivers the current if its designed right and noise is not an issue. Come along way. I moved from the linear supplies with my amps but unfortunately have been waiting a long time for a high quality SMPS 5V 2.5A - 3A there hasn't been any. The IFI power supply is the first decent SMPS low power supply on the market from what I have ever found. Its really not worth looking at anything else and better to spend the dollars on some other upgrade. have you seen the new Kali reclocker on the volumio site. I have just ordered the Piano DAC and Kali reclocker. to compare with my IQaudio DAC I currently have.
