  8. Can someone confirm? I'm thinking of getting the BigW 3D version but is the US version superiour (apart from having the DVD disc)? Apparently the AUS version has Dolby TrueHD 7.1 whereas the US version has DTS-HD High Res Audio. So confusing!
  9. Where abouts in Sydney are you - semi-interested in RX-FX but I'm a bit light on the wallet right now..
  10. There aren't many reviews for the CHT-Q10 - is it any good primarily for music in a small room? It's an entry level Velodyne but I got it for just under $600.
  11. I totally have no idea. But I didnt notice any skipping/stopping etc. It's Aussie release, copyright 2009 with dolby trueHD and dolby digital, code Y25728 written on the side. If still interested PM me since I've received another PM after your post also stating the same question/interest. edit: watching disc 1 again. It did distort, skip but wasn't often - why I probably didnt notice before is because I thought it was HTPC playback issues. From memory the other discs are fine.
  12. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: Season 2 watched once; immaculate condition $15 with free standard shipping! Heroes: Season 3 new; opened for inspection; not yet watched $25 with free standard shipping! edit: all region B discs
  13. Harry Potter 5 - the order of the pheonix. Watched once; immaculate condition region B BLURAY (AU&UK PS3-BLURAY compatibility) Includes digital copy digital copy not yet activated $9 includes shipping.
  14. Kinda wished it got the nice 7.1 audio treatment (for those who have it obviously). Earlier Disney restorations such as Pinocchio and Beauty and the Beast got 7.1. But it will be a nice addition to the library, next to finding nemo (whenever that comes out on bluray!)
  15. Digging up an old thread: how does the Diamond 10.1 (or even 10.2) compare to the competition that's out there now? Mind you the cheapest I saw the Diamond 10.1 is $395 from csvav and for $100 less they're letting go the 9.1's for $295. Is the $100 worth the upgrade?
  16. Got the Target bluray and dvd for $25. Plenty on the shelves and it's great to see new releases at this price (though it may be more of a Disney thing). Who needs a digital copy full of DRM when a quick google search would have your DVD copy convert into one. Just saying...
  17. They're selling it now? Isn't it officially out on the 17th? edit: haha im alittle bit late to the party. Im waiting for BigW's prices and Target may release it on Thursday (though who remembers Target selling Avatar a day or so early and for only $20 for the bluray?)
  18. Anyone knows a good place that will ship speakers from the UK to here? Obviously amazon.uk doesn't work but with speakers at least you won't have to worry about voltage conversions.
  19. Hi Colin, I saw your post on wp forums so i better understand what you mean by 'tone'. My speakers are from an entry level package (these). I also have thrown in a set of Sherwood BSX-6209 I got cheaply as my fronts (converting the set up to a 7.1). My 7.1 Pioneer 919-ah doesnt sound as 'warm' as the Yamaha Receiver it replaced but trebles are sharper and is overall more powerful. There are some Yamaha centres floating around but if one could get a better sounding centre speaker as an entry level yammy replacement all the better I suppose. In terms of what sounds better, hmm i guess anything would be better than my existing set of speakers. It would be nice to test drive some centres but it's hard to lay judgement because of my lack of audiophile knowledge and not to mention it probably may not be suited towards my set up anyway. However, as an 'investment' happy to put a few extra dollars towards a good 2nd hand centre if it means it survives the next round of speaker upgrades. thoughts?
  20. I'd take the IMAX format over 3D ANYTIME!!! The Dark Knight Rises? That really does sound quite lame; I dont think the use of a verb really works well in film titles, but that's possibly just me.
  21. Hmm, I'm in Sydney and it seems like the OP is in QLD. I suppose those JM speakers can be used as centre speakers but I think shipping will be something I must consider (would rather drive to pick up anyone's surplus speakers from SYD if possible)
  22. Sorry to leech off this thread, but I too am looking for a relatively cheap entry level centre speaker. My receiver is a Pioneer VSX-919AH but the speakers attached to them are very entry level (let's just say they're a typical 'lifestyle' 5.1 package from Yamaha) I've seen these on ebay and was wondering if they are considered good by any means?
  23. Wow target people must be really lazy. My copy from Target also had the red lock but I took matters into my own hands. Its actually quite easy to get off once you develop a technique!
