  1. I might end up doing that. The Oppo doesn't have Civavia so it shouldn't pose a problem.
  2. I hope not. I've read reports that Sony are shipping replacements in the USA though.
  3. I have the Pro-Mod chip too. I just set the audio output to LPCM and it played perfectly. If you want to see it glitch, set the output to Bitstream. According to the Oppo manual, Bitstream is the preferred output option if your AVR supports decoding which is why I normally have it set to bitstream.
  4. Just got an email from Amazon asking me to confirm my address for the replacement. Seriously good service.
  5. Yep - I'm going to try watching it again outputting PCM instead of the DD bitstream. I've read in some forums today that they will be reissuing the disc.
  6. Anyone else come across the sound dropping out and at one point my speakers were screaming? Apparently it's a copy protection glitch with DD. Oppo are apparently releasing a firmware update to fix it and Sony are reissuing the discs.
  7. I doubt this will ever get a region B release..
  8. I loved Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill and inglorious bastards.
  9. You can already register for a group buy with Merlin.
  10. I have a Sony bd player as well - a US import and it won't play Boardwalk Empire. Sony are aware of the problem but have done nothing for a year. It's still a current model too. (sx1000 I think - its a Bluray Walkman thing)
  11. It seems to me that many US 3D releases are ABC when the 2D is A. Mine is on the way as well but I bet the 3D one is region free.
  12. Kinda - I meant that sometimes updates are needed because of new disc security measures (like java BS etc). I don't anticipate a 'fix' for Cinavia - but I think the 93/95 are not getting cinavia anyway are they? Sure I read that somewhere.
  13. Unfortunately? I do have to ask why? It's not like they add that many new features - there are people on here running very old firmware - some have never upgraded. Their player works fine. Only bugger is new disk security and I would expect them to release updates to deal with compatibility issues as now.
  14. Hmm. I can't see any way to save settings - nothing in the Web interface, nothing on Google.
  15. Yeah I'm going to reset when I have some time to write down all my settings.
  16. I had an old 1000 and replaced it with a 900. I hated the 100 - the 900 is so much better. I'd say the 900 is equally as intuitive.
  17. Hey. My Onkyo 1009 has just decided to not allow playing my streams from the Net anymore. I can access the AVR's web interface; it is getting an IP address etc but when I select the net input the display goes blank and I get a bluescreen on my TV instead of options to select favourites etc. Also if I go to the update firmware tab it seems to hang when I press update (it has the latest firmware) – it also hangs if I select USB for a firmware update. No buttons on remote work. I can switch it off from the on/off switch. I have tried removing power plug. Anything else I can try before I do a reset (and lose all my settings)????
  18. +100 How they can even think this is remotely effective beats me.
  19. 2 x 4gb files - one was special itunes features which doesn't work Anyway, AnyDVDHD takes care of encryption and handbrake lets me rip anything to my iPad etc. They are just such morons trying to stop people making use of their legitimate purchases. I really don't understand this BS.
  20. FWIW, I don't consider this piracy. I own the bluray and a digital copy - if they prevent me using the digital copy then if I rip it it's not piracy. I didn't have any issue with the Hunger Games - apart from the 8gb download anyway but that's another story.
  21. I guess this is the point where you just surrender and rip the bluray to the HDD. Morons.
