  1. I can confirm this mod works on my BDP-95 with the new firmware. Mod working again.
  2. New firmware now is officially released. I wonder what the delay is with the Pro-Mod? I also wonder why the standard mod works. Hmm.
  3. Yes it killed it on mine. No issue going back to April firmware. Merlin is aware it's broken and is presumably chasing it up with the mod people.
  4. I'll bite - what is the Terra Firma upgrade???
  5. Depends on the Logitech model - my 900 for example does not do sequences which really sucks.
  6. Different firmware for AU model. I would expect the US firmware to be ahead of ther AU one - a week or so would be my guess.
  7. I purchased a couple of Sony Blu-Ray switchable players off ebay from Multi-System. The other night I was playing around with a BDP-SX1000 that I take with me when I travel. I checked the firmware version as I do occasionally to make sure I download the update - as it's a US player, I can't do internet updates. Anyway, I saw the version of firmware was VERY old - I knew I had updated it a couple of times since I had gotten it. So I thought I'd change the region and do the same check. Yep - on region B setting it was showing the correct firmware (latest). Switched back to region A and it was the old version again. When I got home yesterday I updated the firmware on Region A and now I am getting the right firmware version for region A or B. So I guess this is how this particular firmware mod works - it actually has 2 firmware chips in it and you switch between them - I suppose this is how they can guarantee that you can always update the firmware without breaking the mod. So if you have a region switchable Sony player - it might pay to check that the firmware update has been applied to both firmware chips.
  8. Dunno if anyone has reported this but selected titles are on buy one get one free at JB - Picked up Inception Combo Pack + Red riding hood for $19.98 on the weekend.
  9. I had one recently that took 2 months - I'd reported it lost and Amazon said to wait 2 more weeks and then it arrived - well after their outside date estimate. Then I've had other packages sent after that one that came before it inside 2 weeks. Generally 2 weeks is all it takes.
  10. Upon further investigation, some of my Bluray's ship with a digital copy AND a ultrablue crappy thingy. Like Hugo and also Tin Tin. Using the USA VPN has enabled me to d/l my digital copy for those into iTunes. Good thing I have plenty of D/L available this month. Anyway at least I can get these onto my iPad now.
  11. Yeah. I did actually google it and have been trying to work it out since I started getting the Ultra-Violet digital copies. So, yesterday, I tried unblock-us - didn't work. I signed up for 1 month for a VPN and set my location to the USA. After I did this, I could create a Sony account and create an Ultra-blue account - only had to enter a fake US zip code. (90210 anyone?) Then I was able to redeem a code I had received on a Blu-ray. However - this is absolutely USELESS. I can download an inferior copy of a movie (around 1gb) and then ONLY play it on my PC - If I want to watch a movie at home, I will watch the disc on my Oppo thanks anyway. It's 'compatible' with iPad meanint I can stream the movie to my iPad from the 'cloud' provided I am connected to the US VPN which I can't do. There is no way I can load a conventional movie into iTunes like I have done with digital copies in the past. They are really screwing us with this. Additionally I have heard that the studios want to use this type of delivery system into the future instead of supplying any discs.
  12. Has anyone been able to use this with a Region A Bluray? Is it as simple as a VPN or some other technique I can use to d/l movie?
  13. It just means it will decode to stereo - 2 channel. If you use hdmi or toslink cable it will be 5.1
  14. My Oppo was offered yet another new firmware last night. 'twas only a day ago I checked the Oppo site too and there wasn't even a beta available. Weird.
  15. Depends what you mean by margin - International shipping is $6 or so. Local is $1 - that's a $5 advantage before you even compare the disk price.
  16. Amazon invariaqble offer free local shipping so it can't be too hard for them to offer price parity on the total package if they set up here. They might even sell Region A blurays too - I dunno - if it's just a distribution centre they could do that. It's about servicing Asia for them too if they set up here....
  17. I've noticed a few 'series' do that kind of insanity of having the same menu on all disks and then asking you to put another disk in when you select something. Justified is another series that springs immediately to mind.
  18. Except that they are competing with amazon.com, amazon.co.uk and other international online vendors - they aren't only competing with local B&M.
  19. Pretty sure it's the only mod in common use. Merlin and Gatti use the same mod.
  20. Auto recognize dst isn't working for me either. I just set it manually.
