@Eli not sure it makes me feel any better, but I do have an oppo (I think it's a 103D too). It's not a cable problem. I am going to unplug my Oppo entirely.

@mikeyday no, I can see it any time.

The Sony is on the Ceiling so a source direct isn't really very easy, and given the intermittency of the issue it would be very difficult to detect that way. I'll try the idea of having everything else turned off at the wall. If that helped what would that indicate? Faulty Amp?

Ultra HD (4K) pass-through and upscaling I'm guessing this makes it 1.4a? Might be 2.0 actually, apparently a firmware update enabled it. I have my firmware up to date.

Hi. I have a A3030 Yamaha Amp, and Monitor Audio RS6 5.1 setup, which sounds great. I bought a Sony VPL HW50-ES Projector and I have been having some issues I thought I'd get some advice on. 1) Randomly the projector image will go black or show fine static. It's usually quick but might happen at random intervals sometimes 1-2, then a minute later 3-5 times, then 10 minutes later 6 times. I changed the HDMI cable for one of those new Fibre ones, with the latest standards and the issue isn't much better, but the black or static screens are much shorter. I changed to a different HDMI Output on my Amp, no difference. Source doesn't seem to matter, I've had 2 PS4's and a Sky Box, and a FireTV and they all do it. Sometimes unplugging and replugging fixes it, and sometimes turning the amp on and off for a few seconds fixes it. I can't easily provide another screen as the issue is intermittent and we don't watch massive amounts of content on it right now. Anyone seen anything like this? 2) The supplier said he would lend me an A2060 Amp while they test mine (for a small fee which he will refund if I buy the Amp). I have always had the higher end 3000 series or equivalent and trying to determine if I will notice much difference between the A3030 and A2060 vs A3060, with a stock standard 5.1 Setup. Differences seem to be 140w vs 150w and Atmos/DTS:X with Cinema DSP HD3 (Whatever that is). I like to future proof myself, but I am not sure if to make use of the DSP HD3 I'd need different/more speakers which I am unlikely to do in the next 3-5 years. What I will do is move to 4K projector when they drop under 10K but I suspect we are 12-18 months away from that. 3) When I play sport like Rugby which is in 720P from Sky, when the field is showing, the green seems to cause a noticeable "flicker", which is distracting. Seems to only be if the field is shown largely without players, during the actual game when you are zoomed in, it's not as noticable or not present in most cases. Thanks for any help you might be able to recommend.

Hi There! I have this but it's only 1.2 HDMI, to use my new 3D projector I need HDMI 1.3. I have a PS3 which is my 3d Player. Is there a way to pass Audio through the Amp, and put the video (hdmi) through something that handles HDMI 1.3+? I am just trying to find a not too expensive way to get the PS3 through the AMP to the Projector.

Spare Bulb possibly has 200-300 hours left on it. Unsure, unable to warranty the length of time it will last. It was used in a room with moderate ambient light, during the day, with the curtains pulled and was quite viewable, obviously like all projectors, darker room is better. I had it at 106" flawlessly over the nearly 3 years I owned it. Sorry it would appear my math is fairly suspect, it's nearly *4* years old.

After much reading, I decided based on others feedback that the input lag of the JVC was going to be a deal breaker. I love the picture, but I am 40-50% gaming and this makes the problem fairly significant. I ordered the Sony VPL-HW50ES. Seemed to be the second best choice by most comparisons. Sadly all sold out of Black in prep for the 55ES in a few months (Timeframe undecided but none on order or announced in Asia Pacific.) A 2 week wait. Hopefully the white one looks ok with my white ceiling given it's ceiling mounted.

Thanks for the advice, don't worry I am quite aware of the downsides of those sites, and wouldn't touch them with a barge pole but the deal I have been offered is at a local NZ store (Bricks and Mortar).
-
Someone on another forum said that the Sony VPLHW50ES would be a good compromise if the gaming on the JVC isn't going to be suitable? Would be interested in any other opinions others have on recommendations? Would it be fair to say since I bought my Mistubishi 2.5 years ago, that pretty much anything in the 4-7K pricemark is going to be a significant upgrade?
-
Hi There! Sadly I don't have the budget for two projectors, nor space or cables in the roof space for a second. The JVC is right at the top end of my budget (In fact well over but with the discount I've been offered I think it's worth considering. Anyone know an installer who might be available Friday or Saturday to change the Mitsubishi for the JVC if I go ahead with the purchase? I am in Auckland, or should I start another topic for it?

Hi There! I am considering replacing my Mitsubishi 6800 with a JVC-X55 which gets universally good reviews. I was hoping to wait for 4K Projectors but in the end I think they are a long way off. Key Points of Requirements: 1) Must cope really well in a room which isn't completely black. The Mitsi has been ok, but I want better this time around. 2) I use the projector 25% Sport, 25% Movies and General TV, and 50% gaming and I am concerned about some projectors being reported as laggy in this area with image blurring.. 3) I don't care about 3D, but if it has it, great. I was hoping to stick to my budget of 6k. I see one retailer at $7k, but if I could get it for $6500 I'd likely bite the bullet assuming the points above are ok. I don't need it today, perhaps before xmas... Anyone have any commentary they can add? Also I'd be keen to know what my Mistubishi HC 6800 would be worth second hand.

Assistance with Projector Adjustment
networkn replied to networkn's topic in Home Cinema General Discussion
Well because the original problem (was changing the bulb and lost my balance and spun the projector around breaking the inwall cable) has caused the subsequent issue. -
Hi There! I have a customer who is building a high budget home on the North Shore of Auckland. They mentioned they are intending to put in Automation. Has anyone had recent first hand experience with companies who offer the full service in Auckland? I have encouraged them to keep things nice and simple and elegant and focus on what will be reliable. (Advice is, could a guest with no training work it?).

Assistance with Projector Adjustment
networkn replied to networkn's topic in Home Cinema General Discussion
Hi There! Oops I thought I'd replied with a big thank you for your advice, I apologize I somehow overlooked it. I have managed to adjust it somewhat but it's still not right. I think it's better to get someone to come and check it out, perhaps calibrate the colours and be done with it. The Insurance company will cover it anyway. Anyone able to recommend someone qualified to do this type of work? -
How do switches work? Do you manually have to change them over? How would it work from a universal remote perspective?
-
Hmm reviews for it (x55) are very positive for movie viewing not so complimentary for fast motion such as sports and specifically gaming. Since gaming is 25% of what I do, it may be a deal breaker. Anything else you recommend considering?

Hi There! Has anything been released that can compete with this model in terms of sound quality and features? I was told a year ago that nothing was even close by a number of sources, and even Yamahas new Flagships don't seem to review as well. I need more HDMI Ports and I'd like something that will do 4K when it's readily available. I don't have a specific timeframe for purchase. In the meantime are HDMI switchers any good or expanding the current AMP I am using?
-
Sometime this year I am scheduled to replace my Mitsi HC6800 which has been pretty good, but I presume now, there are much better units. Should I wait for 4K at a consumer price range if 3D doesn't interest me?

Hi There! I recently was trying to change the bulb on my projector and since then I appear to have misaligned it. I am not sure how to resolve it, or what would be required. I am happy to pay someone to correct it if advice through these forums isn't possible. Anyone able to shed some light? Here is the issue: Here is the projector: Appreciate any advice.

Hi There! I have a customer I am trying to help out. He has a Bose Cinemate GS Series 2 and an OPPO BDP-83 which is connected to a Sony 40" TV. The Oppo connects to the TV Via HDMI. All Good. The Bose is connected to the Oppo via Toslink Optical cable, and it's sort of working. We have an issue where blu-ray audio content only plays during previews or trailers and the main menu. Once the main movie starts, silence. I SUSPECT it's because the sound track is 5.1 and the speakers are 2.1 and downmixing isn't being applied for some reason. Should I connect the oppo to the bose via red/white analog cables instead? Is that the only way to make that work? Someone suggested optical to the tv and tv to the bose via stereo plugs might also work. Anyone able to shed some light? It would seem some Blu-rays will play if they have a stereo soundtrack. For example : The latest batman won't play audio but Rio Bravo on BR will play. Thanks for any advice.
