  1. Can anyone confirm this kind of pricing? seems pretty darn cheap! Otherwise whats the best arcade pack deal going around currently? Best ive found is EB with the arcade pack plus guitar hero. not looking to spend over $299. cheers.
  2. The THX intro is only in DD. JJ
  3. I checked out my local EZYDVD store today and inside were 2 promo bins full of 'buy 2 get 1 free' br titles but they were all marked at stupid prices eg; res dogs was $42.95 along with big fish at $44 so by the time i picked 3 titles i wanted it worked out about $29 each which is still more expensive then what i could pick the titles up for at bigw or even jbhifi... I dont think i'll bother with EZYDVD anymore... or at least not until they get there pricing right so there is some true value in there sales Having said that i did apprectiate there hd-dvd fire sale:) JJ
  4. Great to hear the firmware fixed up the minor issues you had puddings certainly has removed any doubt for me purchasing one! Also yorac, what firmware did yours come with today? Just wondering if the units in the shops have had the fw updated or if its something that still needs to be done once avr is home. cheers.
  5. Are you sure it was the 255 you were going to buy or was it the 355? ... 255 rrp is $999 and street price is around $850.
  6. I only have a DD amp at moment so i dont know any better hehe.
  7. Picked it up today from big w for $37.98 (Wish i read this earlier, would have waited til it was $32) The THX Intro is amazing... (more enjoyable then the film itself ) I was a bit surprised that the THX audio/video calibration wasn't included, as although basic, i do like to tweak my picture with it before watching any THX certifed disc...
  8. Hey Puddings, After a few months of use are you still quite happy with the 255? Its right up the top of my list for a entry pre-amp. Would love to hear you comments a few months on from purchase (or anyone else who's been using it for awhile now). Regards.
  9. Thanks mate, Updated FW and all problems fixed
  10. Hi, I've got myslef a 7000pvr and am having a few issues. 1. I cannot put the player on standby as when i turn it back on it loses all channels and i have to do a signal search again everytime. 2. No EPG or program info is available. Im hopping these may be fixed with FW, can someone please tell me where i can find the latest FW and do i have to do FW upgrades in stages or simply install the latest one? Any other thoughts on how to solve these problems would be great. Thanks!
  11. Thanks guys for the info, I've just fired MS an email to confirm that there wont be any issues such as with the Krix speakers but it all looks good to spinnin my speaker on its side . I'll report back on my findings when i do this to see if it does indeed improve or hinder the sound. Thanks heaps!
  12. Hi, I have a centre speaker which is currently placed laying horizontally. I am looking to place it vertically, is this going to cause any issues. I know using a floorstanding speaker as a centre produces great results but is it ok to stand a 'centre speaker' vertically or is it a big no-no? Any opinions of +'s and -'s of doing this would be greatly appreciated. P.S Here's a link to the centre speaker im wanting to do this to. http://www.mordauntshort.com/summary.php?P...itle=Avant+905i Cheers.

  15. G'Day, I am planning a few HT purchases in the next few months, These inlcude Projector - probably an epson tw700 ~ $1700 aud AVR - Probably HK AVR255 ~ $850 aud PS3 and/or BR player ~ $700 aud Now im also planning a trip to Japan in early december and was wondering if it would be worth holding off until then and buy in Tokyo. From my brief research prices don't seem to be to much different though - is this what others have experienced as well or are there bargains to be had?? Any expereices would be apprecated cheers.
  16. Hi All, Just thought i'd share a HT gallery which i have stumbled upon. Its not in english but the pics say it all. Some very nice dedicated and lounge room setups to drool over ... Also some good ideas for ikea furniture amongst them too. http://www.minhembio.com/galleri/lista/popular/ Cheers
  17. I picked them all up from varying JB hifi stores around the gold coast. As they were on run-out no single store had the whole set in the honey mample colour so i had to track them down. From memory i payed 906 $599 905 $299 903 $199 902 $249 If you liked the sound of them then thats what matters. I think they sound great for movie soundtracks and they look pretty sexy too imo. What sort of prices have you seen for the 'i' versions?
  18. Hi Arry, I'm currently running MS 906 Fronts, MS 905 Centre, MS 903 Bi-poles and MS 902 Bookshelfs. I paid just under $1400 around 18 months ago for the lot. These are being driven by a Pio vsx1015 receiver and for the price I certainly can't complain with their performance for movies/TV viewing. I can’t comment on them for music playback however as they were purchased and are used purely for home cinema duties. For what its worth I would describe them as being neutral to slightly bright sounding in my room which has a lot of soft furnishings and carpet but i feel they could be tiring for some if they were in a tiled or 'bright' environment. I find the imaging to be good, speech is full and clear even at reference level and the bi-poles and bookshelfs work great for non localized surround effects. I dare say they would struggle to really impress at music but that’s not what they are designed for as the avant is aimed at home cinema not hifi. These descriptions should be kept in context of their $1400 price point though (even if the rrp is over $2000) and of course I’m going to have a bias towards what I’ve spent my hard earned on but i certainly don’t feel a need to upgrade them anytime soon, in fact im sure an upcoming receiver upgrade and a dive into HD audio will see me hanging onto my avant series for many years to come. Also worth noting is i don’t have the 'i' versions, which from what I’ve read are an improvement on the original avant series which i have. If you have any questions or want further detail I’d be happy to help. I’d also recommend checking out a few of the UK forums (eg avforums.com as there are a lot more MS users over there than in Australia. Regards Joe.
  19. I picked up the Kingdom from there today too for $9.95, been looking everywhere for it so im happy
  20. Hi, Just wondering how people find shipping times for hd-dvd's between these two online sites. There is not much difference in price but have people found that one has faster shipping then the other? Amazon gives a fairly broad range of ETA's and I can't even find an ETA on DVD Pacific. On amazon i've selected expidited int. shipping for 4 items at $111.91 AUD On dvd pacific i've selcted USPS Int. Priority airmail for 4 items at $106.12 AUD Which should i order from based on delivery times? At this stage im probably going to order through DVD Pacific because it is a tad cheaper... unless they take a much longer time on average to deliver then amazon? Hope this makes sense... Mo_Jo
