gbickle, Have moved into new house will eventually renovate and build another dedicated HT, my CRT PJ's are in storage, looked at an 80" Panel refused to pay double the costs the Yanks do so thought this to be a logical compromise, to me price ratio, portability far outweigh me wasting an additional 4K extra, swayed away from JVC and looked at the Mitsubishi HC8000D 3D ( Watch Sports, TV, Movies etc ) most impressed, bulb replacement cost if required is academic so no concern there as technology is developing more rapidly when time comes to a replacement unit, what caught my eye were the super deep blacks, and skin tones ( I always take my own test material with me ) and like you am not interested in brightness per sa although plenty of room to configure within reason, contrast is all I ask for, have not purchased unit yet but it is on the top of my priority list, won't say much more than your on the right track, still you have others to view on the weekend so please enjoy.
