  1. Further information: If you’re viewing this post you’re most likely aware of the magic of this amp. The Halcro Logic MC20 represents near-perfection for audiophiles whom demand the absolute best. The incredible 400wpc has been hailed a distortion-free masterpiece. Suitable for driving all but the hungriest monolithic speakers, the MC20 features stellar treble clarity, completely effortless bass delivery and a totally neutral and uncoloured mid range section allowing the freedom and pleasure of playing any genre of music. (I’ve played everything from my favourite Benny Green/Russell Malone discs, to Neil Young, to Helmet, to Portishead and Dave Weckl). Awesome power delivery for these vastly differing sounds. This is such a unique and praised design that it’s of widespread opinion that the performance price-tag be well and truly into 5-figures. Condition of this unit I rate MINT + condition. I’m completely unforgiving on rating audiophile equipment, the only detail not making it “AS NEW” is a tiny rice-grain sized mark on the front fascia. This is for full disclosure to the lucky new owner. Other than this there’s not another single sign of wear or even use. Every element of course operates to perfection. Switches on first time, every time. All switches, binding posts and jacks present as new. Comes with original packaging, paperwork and special leather bound Halcro binder. Postage available Australia-wide! 3. Further information: For your consideration is my Musical Fidelity M3CD player - these CD separates from Musical Fidelity in the past decade have become known as the most capable, value for money and robust units on the market. The M3CD is of this same idea - completely devoted to amazing red book playback, amazing high end frequency reproduction, incredibly strong and convincing bass as well as a mid section that is instantly distinctive and as detailed as you need. The performance of the M3CD is a dark horse, with sound quality equal to that of players twice it’s price. The secret is to simply use a higher grade power cable (anything above the bundled one from factory I found enhanced significantly the width of the soundstage). Condition of my unit is excellent - only the faintest signs of use. Completely burned in!! (I’ve run this unit at least 2 hours every week since new). And the tone has matured right into such a favourable and pleasing quality. Of course all aspects of this M3CD operate great. Included is all original packaging including the M3 remote, velour bag and original box and paperwork. NO TYRE KICKERS OR TROLLS - Price firm. 4. These Audiolabs are EXCELLENT performers. I had both an 8000A and a Tag McLaren 60irv (pretty much the same amp). Gosh now these are musical! For anyone wanting a super capable integrated that punches substantially higher than its weight - this is the amp. Best of luck with the sale!
  5. I agree - I think a really nice cartridge would do wonders. Along with a nice mat - those two elements I must admit had the biggest bearing in my experience for transforming any turntable.
  6. I think if they’ve improved the electrical design of the new Technics it could possibly be an improvement. I noticed they always had a terrible noise floor. Though as they’re going for something like nearly $3k, you’ll be able to get far easier sonic improvement with an Avid or Rega for your money - both manufactures are also hailed as mechanical engineering geniuses.
  7. Hey there, John - I’ve been in precisely the same position as you around 10 years ago when I was 20. I’d always been exposed to the Technics 1200s through friends, acquaintances, etc. It seemed everyone had one around me. I thought they were very much the turntable to have. So on I went and sprung for one. Yes, the engineering is truly impeccable - robust, rugged and finely designed. Amazing direct drive performance eliminated any doubt whatsoever for need to nail correct speed. A very confident unit to enjoy using. Though where it counted I found the 1200s to be far from an audiophile quality of sound. Dark, lacking the clearest highs and very boomy lows (I used an array of cartridges such as the 2M Red and Orange, Audio Technicas and even a Denon MC cart which model I forget now..) Perfectly suited of course to DJs as it has been for over 40 years. Because I can’t help myself and I love to modify pretty much anything, I took it on myself to replace entirely the original tonearm wire with some premium Cardas, pulled out the iron core trans and made an external psu as well as stabilised the whole unit on vibrapods. Well did this old Technics blow away the competition!! However it did take significant and careful effort getting there - not to mention the additional cost. Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed the massive sonic gain through my impetuousness, I did learn I could’ve got a really nice Linn or Rega for the same money. I guess what I’m trying to say is that, despite it not being a pillar of “audiophile” performance, with a little finagling and some thought they can literally be a force to be reckoned with. If you’re wanting more of a premium plug-and-play audiophile turntable, the large outlet for a new Technics may leave you a little underwhelmed for your dollar.
  8. Thanks for all the amazing enthusiasm for the Halcro, everyone!! I must admit I've had some tyre kickers message me the past couple of days claiming they've heard mixed reviews or that it's worth no more than $1,200... Obviously not from the the huge feedback here!
  9. Audio Analogue brilliance! The lucky buyer will have one amazing amp to enjoy!
  10. I do have the limited edition 2003 pressing which is quite rare - would this interest you by chance? It's actually a very solid and high quality pressing from what I've found

  12. Hey there Absynthetic - in terms of the required amp functions, were you after a straightforward integrated or were you intending on more of a receiver to keep everything connected for 5.1? Thinking about great bass for an integrated, Musical Fidelity comes to mind for great performance in the lower frequency range (in my experience). Ultimately having as much headroom as applicable is my suggestion - this depends on how sensitive/efficient your speakers are. I also have much experience with using the SL1200s in both DJ and audiophile applications. The 1200 in stock form tends to be very much on the darker side of sound character, not at all neutral. As you’ve mentioned that your music as more bass-heavy, I’ll recommend keeping the signal flow clean with a power conditioner - this will further tighten up the quality of the LF and imaging significantly, for much cleaner and tighter transients overall. What speaker cables were you using by chance?
  13. Hey there John - I can attest that having a separate phono stage will almost always serve better for sound quality than what will be within even a pretty high end receiver. Those that are in receivers I've found to be really inarticulate, dark and boomy. The fact that they'll be in a receiver quite often is a result of a given manufacturer cramming more in for feature set as opposed to out-and-out sound quality. Much is the same case as an in-built phono section in an integrated, unless talking about very high end integrated amps such as an Accuphase or say McIntosh.
  14. Further information: ** PRICE REDUCED AGAIN!! ** What more can possibly be said for these truly excellent floorstanders? Apart from the impeccable sound and build quality making Fabers the envy of countless other makers? The Concerto Grand Piano model represented Faber’s effort for “reasonably priced” floorstanders - what they achieved instantly was a model on par with their premier speakers. The sound is breathtaking - perfect for listeners that want as much detail revealed as possible in their music. Amazing high end, amazing low end handling and awesome mids. Condition I rate EXCELLENT. Only the slightest signs of age. A tiny mark on the leather next to one of the passive radiators. Leather is in perfect condition, along with the drivers without a mark. Binding posts present as new (only sign of wear are chipped corners of the plate, brittle plastics as one would expect after now 20 years in action. These are dated mid-1999, I’m the second owner. If you’ve heard the Olympica Fabers, these are so incredibly close it’s not funny. 15. Hi Brad - I can definitely recommend Garry Cawsey in Edward St, Brunswick. He’s an incredible audio designer and engineer as well as repairer. Just about one of the nicest guys around and is a real joy to chat with
  16. These are some truly great Sonique speakers - amazing value for money! Best of luck with the sale!
  17. Hi guys! Thanks for the replies! I actually opened my machine and also noticed the same thing - it seems that the Jamicon caps are in the M3CD as well so seems to be quite a common theme with MF in terms of choice of components. Excellent attention to the improvements on the M1! I'm taking notes and ideas as we speak
  18. Hi everyone! I’m reaching out in terms of opinions, advice and perspective based on the Musical Fidelity M3CD - I’ve been running one for around 18 months and it’s quite a capable CD player (I previously had to sell my Esoteric X-01D2 as to pay some medical bills). Despite the substantial downgrade since, the MF has certainly grown on me! Are there any known mods in terms of cap changes, mods to the clock, etc which can elevate this machine? I’ve noticed that the bass, whilst really robust, can be a little off timing as well as the channel separation which isn’t quite as sensational compared with other machines cheaper in the same class. Keen to hear anyone’s thoughts!

  20. I, too, am an incredibly proud owner of an MC20 - this really is as good as it gets when it comes to power amps. For those thinking about getting it, DON'T HESITATE! GO FOR IT! Best of luck with the sale mate!

  23. You may quite like the very capable and very popular Sony ES series power amps I recently got my hands on the TA-330ES from around circa 1990. I'd never used Sony before hand for audio, though it's left me exceptionally impressed. Granted, I don't use it on my main system though the imaging and control of various kinds of music has left me very impressed. If you're on a budget for very reasonably priced and well constructed power amps, definitely give them a try.
  24. Truly stunning work!! Great job!
  25. e-Go are great indeed, though as mentioned insurance will be very handy especially for your expensive hifi. I've personally used Barnett's of Wollongong and they're truly superb. Friendly and personal touch which makes dealing with them effortless. And they're very competitive
