  1. They've announced two new lenses and a new camera already so don't think they're done. https://www.digitalcameraworld.com/au/news/olympus-announces-a-pair-of-pro-lenses-including-first-ever-f14-prime Was considering buying a 25mm 1.8 because the 1.2 PRO doesn't fit my E-M10. Hopefully the 20mm fits and is not too massive, and not overpriced.
  2. Some random shots on a different film. This time I tried Kodak Cinefilm 250D. I'm happy with how sharp it is. Seems to be low grain as well. Was thinking there was going to be some weird yellow or green cast over them but the colours are pretty natural.
  3. The point of going back to film is to experience the medium as it is. I don’t want to spend time trying to make film look like digital, or make digital look like film. Have been evaluating the pics I took on Kodak 200 and I’m actually starting to like them.
  4. Yeah. They’re pretty good. I had this roll sent back the same day they said they received it.
  5. No. Was thinking about it but can’t see how I can do a better job with a DIY setup than the lab with a Frontier/Noritsu setup. I guess I got the negs so can try later on. From what I can see the lab does a bit of correction.
  6. This is my third roll back into it. It is kind of odd. I look at all these guys shooting film on youtube and I love the vintage look and the grain etc. but when you do it yourself it’s a totally different feeling. You have to get used it I think and the need to constantly experiment. Not sure I like Kodak Gold 200 that much so I might move onto other types.
  7. Some pics walking around Altona. I’m not sure I’m used to film yet. I don’t seem to get the nice contrast that other pros seem to get. Not sure if it’s because I’m messing up the focus or whether that’s just the quality you get on an old camera, or whether my composition just flat out sucks.
  8. It came with the button battery and was serviced with new light seals and everything so I’m pretty happy with it. I have some WeinCell 1.35v I bought a few weeks ago that I think are the correct ones as well. The Canon Canonets are considered to have good lenses aren’t they? Are there better film cameras you can get for around the $200-300 mark?
  9. I think it might have been the type of app. I downloaded another one that measures a point on the screen, whereas the older one took a photo and then gave a reading. When I point the camera right at that point the new app is measuring I get exactly the same reading so I think the camera meter is bang on. I think it was the app that was not right possibly.
  10. I have a Canon Canonet I just bought second hand and the light meter is off by, I think, one stop. For example if I use a phone light meter app with the same iso and shutter speed on ss priority, the aperture is showing F8 in stead of F11 in the app. Does mean I need to take it off automatic and lower the aperture to get the right exposure (ie. go manual) or should I try the camera as is?
  11. Found this article: https://www.theverge.com/2021/6/9/22525028/apple-music-spatial-audio-dolby-atmos-hands-on The priority is Dolby Atmos. My views are roughly the same as the article. The vocals are absolutely awesome but some things just sound weird, like the guitars on Counting Crows Mrs Jones. Maybe the weirdness is just the unexpectedness at hearing new things in the mix.
  12. What’s the deal with this Spatial Sound/Dolby Atmos on Apple Music now? There is a Spatial Audio playlist and although it doesn’t show as Dolby Atmos on my sound bar it does sound different. Is Atmos just a new gimmick to make stereo sound more surround, like that Pro Logic over whatever it was called? I know Automatic For The People is mastered for Atmos and that sounds good but I certainly don’t think the Beatles albums have all been done like that.
  13. I wonder if someone like Aronofsky would have made something out of Dune. I’m not a huge fan but I think he makes movies that take you into the fantasy world, like The Fountain etc. I found Bladerunner 2049 pretty boring so I hope this isn’t just another mindless action flick.
  14. That’s interesting. I’ll need to check it again. So there were three pressings in 1995? Actually reading the comments is quite interesting too: I believe it's the label groove (that border that goes between the R and the P in "33 1/3 RPM" on the label) that distinguishes the repress. That groove is NOT present on the original 1st and 2nd pressing from 1995. The £ is also a tell, only 1995 will have it (the image on the second pressing release that shows a label without £ must be from a 2007/2008 repress) So I need to check the matrix numbers again. Another comment says this, the one you linked, is a better sounding pressing? Wth? I’d imagine they’d all be similar.
  15. To be honest, I can't make sense of the prices for these. The variation is ridiculous. I can see a few have sold for up to $600 (and that wasn't even the one with the 0%) but maybe they're the outliers. Just gonna reduce the price to make it more sensible as I don't really know.
  16. Yeah, the leap to the next record is just as big I reckon. Listening to the unreleased songs on the the OK Computer reissue I realised Yorke completely changed his singing style. Didn’t notice it at the time but I think his earlier style is much more impressive. The drawling style he developed is not my thing.
  17. Further information: Radiohead 'The Bends' Very rare original UK LP. This is a genuine UK second run of the 1st pressing, that is, it has the pixelated 0% in the corner of the picture sleeve. The matrices are stamped PCS 7372 A-01-01-1 etched SHE'S OUT WITH HER ANSWERPHONE stamped D & stamped PCS 7372 B-01-01-1 etched ( NICE DREAM ) stamped D released on Parlophone Records PCS 7372. The condition of the record is Near Mint. (I haven't played it for about 20 years and it has been sitting on the shelf). The outer picture sleeve is near mint (could be mistaken for new). The inner picture sleeve is excellent and is showing slight browning of the white side of the picture sleeve due to age. The labels are clean with a couple of very light spindle marks. 18. I loved this movie. Funny how there are so many reviewers on Youtube saying, 'OMG! It's so weird'. Have these people not watched a cult movie before? They're fine with some idiot kid with spider webs flying out of his hands but with this it's just taking it too far? ?
  19. I enjoyed it but didn't have a lingering impact on me. I feel like they could have focused much more on the flashback story as that was the stronger story, yet the resolution to it feels a little bit tacked on. The current day story is kinda easy to work out early on and is not really relevant to the other story or integral to the story of the town. I actually preferred A Sunburnt Christmas over this. The 'twist' hits a lot harder.
  20. Further information: Please see pictures. 2LP Vinyl and CDs. I've thrown in a couple of CD singles. Pickup only as I don't want to risk damage. I've taken a photo of a small mark on the spine. Not that significant but thought I show it just in case someone is looking for an absolutely mint copy. 21. Further information: Package has been carefully opened along one side to access the contents. Played it once of twice after purchase but has been on shelf since then. Pickup only as I don't want to mail valuable vinyl. 22. Yeah, not sure if it’s classified as being on the spectrum. I always put it down to people like him just being endorphin junkies .
  23. Went a few pages back but couldn’t find any discussion so sorry if this has been done before. I’ve heard most modern movies are from 2K DIs and not true 4K but upscaled and that most benefit is found for movies that are remastered in 4K from film, therefore, older movies. Just wondering if anyone has found this to be true in the 4K blurays they’ve watched. Do newer movies seem to be much like normal 1080p or are they bought simply for the HDR?
  24. Got a demo LG about two weeks ago. All good.
