  1. Having just read Jeff Day's review of the Leben CS 600x integrated amplifier, I can understand why. The Leben/Luxman "connection" in the article is very interesting A great read for what must be a great amplifier: https://jeffsplace.positive-feedback.com/sneak-peek-the-leben-cs-600x-integrated-amplifier-feature-review-for-positive-feedback/
  2. Assuming that the Andromeda really interested you, might an email directly to Simaudio be worth trying? Bringing Simaudio into the matter helped @ericd get his matter sorted, and if anyone can answer your question, I think that the people at Simaudio would be your best chance? Not only CAN it be done, but just as importantly HOW to best do it?
  3. Is this it? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008738191349.html?pdp_npi=4%40dis!USD!US %2473.88!US %2473.88!!!73.88!73.88!%402101c5b117441876654283910e8d5d!12000046466691533!sh!US!0!X&spm=a2g0o.store_pc_allItems_or_groupList.new_all_items_2007550470368.1005008738191349&gatewayAdapt=4itemAdapt
  4. I agree Alan. In our case, I used a fine needle to go through the carpet and underlay to the (particle board) floor, measured that, and determined the length of spike needed. Also ran that by Josh, and it has worked out well - very solid contact with the floor, and no movement forward/back or side to side. On a solid floor (concrete or wood), I would use the felt pads - especially on timber (for obvious reasons).
  5. It all depends on your flooring Andy - carpet or straight onto timber/other solid flooring etc. If carpet, work out the depth (carpet plus underlay) to the flooring underneath, to determine the length of spikes. When in any doubt about your choice - email Josh at Stack Audio.
  6. Excellent news. It took a while, but I am glad that you brought the issue to the attention of members, that you persisted with your stance, and that the problem is solved. The "power" of bringing such matters to the attention of members on a large forum like StereoNet should not be underestimated. Excellent advice to @Hazzzy throughout the process, from so many other members about his rights under Australian Consumer Law. A big thumbs up to all of you who supported @Hazzzy, after he posted here, and to you sir for sticking to your guns.
  7. Tell them you are thinking of the Paragon Flagship 4 ways (at 140 kgs each), then go down to the 502s. They will welcome them in with open arms (and sighs of relief).
  8. I would put this question to Josh at Stack Audio. If you send some details (and perhaps a photo or two) of your speaker (model etc) and stands, you will get the most informed answer possible that way.
  9. Please excuse any of the following if I have misremembered some things, or if I have anything factually wrong - I'm not going to go through either video yet again. In the first video posted by the OP, we are told that going to learn about a "dirty little secret ....", which it turns out, isn't a secret at all. If using identical chips was all there is to the sound signature of a DAC, then every DAC which uses a particular chip should/must sound (and measure) identically. But, they don't, because as I understand it, there is a lot more to production and sound of any DAC than just the choice of the chip (as many people commented on YouTube, and as many here with way more knowledge and I can confirm/deny). If the chip is all there is to it, then every DAC using a certain chip, would measure identically when tested e.g. by Amir on ASR, and others. In fact once it is known that a new DAC for testing has the same chip as "X" which has been previously tested, then wouldn't further testing of the new DAC become superfluous? But that is not the case. I suspect that AP's choice of methodology would mean that the sound in his test HAD to remain the same (both sound and measurements) I suggest that better tests could be designed - perhaps to have used two DACS which use the same chip , but which are very different in the rest of their topology and price might have been a better "test". e.g a cheap DAC and then a much more expensive DAC which uses the same chip, and which (according to APs theory) should sound the same, but which some others feel sound different, might have been a better "proof" for his theory? However that might leave it open to getting a result which was different to his hypothesis/hypotheses? I may be wrong. I only listened to his "test" on my computer, and given that the proposition was that I wouldn't be able to hear any difference (and I didn't) I figured it wasn't worth downloading it/listening to it through headphones or whatever. Given that I think the "test" was designed and set up in such a way as to achieve a predetermined result ....... I am happy that I didn't go to a lot more effort when listening to it (apart from running it several times). Do I think that his "test" was so well designed and implemented as to "prove" his proposition to the extent that it is worthy of having a "paper" written about it (as stated in AP's second video)? Not really, but once again others may well disagree.
  10. Great post. Like you, when I listened to the the linked music, I couldn't pick the places where any swaps were made - for several reasons I think, including age related hearing loss (which you referenced), music which I didn't know and couldn't "relate" to, my tinnitus being a bit worse at the moment (as a result of medication). I concluded as you did, that any differences were likely minute, because I couldn't distinguish where changes were occurring. The author (AP Mastering) is a professional who has probably forgotten more about music production/reproduction/mastering than I could ever know, but I agree with @sir sanders zingmore - why so "shouty" when putting forward his views? e.g. "hype, misinformation and outright deception", "dirty little secret that manufacturers don't want you to know" etc. Not such a "secret" if AP can base his video upon it? Furthermore, if there is in fact a DAC "Scam", could the author not put that proposition in a factual and objective manner. without the above? Some of the comments on YouTube are less than complimentary about his proposition, and list various factors in DAC design and manufacture which they feel AP didn't consider - the impact on the sound of a DAC of power supplies, the circuitry built around the chip, the analog output stage, clocking etc. Finally AP seems to like "catchy" themes and titles for his videos including "The great studio monitor lie: The truth exposed" etc. Gets the viewing numbers up I suppose.
  11. We have the AUVA 70s under our speakers, and really like what they do. The Wilson Benesch Vectors are lovely speakers, so you should like what the addition of the AUVA 70s brings to the table. Looking forward to your thoughts once you have them installed.
  12. I think that you can rely on Josh's opinion in this matter. However, if you prefer the results when using spikes, to that without, would it be worth trying spikes which are shorter than the 25mm type, given that they only have to go through a rug, to reach the floor? In my situation, I used the 25mm spikes, because I needed spikes which could go through the woollen carpet and then through a thick underlay, and then into the particle board floor. However, with your application, with a nice bit of flooring underneath the rug, is there a risk of marking the flooring if you use the longer spikes? If possible damage is not a concern, with some experimentation you will know whether spikes on, or no spikes is your preference. Perhaps it might be an idea to get a (strong) mate to come in to assist with finding the best final speaker position, if you decide to go with the spikes option? Not surprised that you like what the AUVAs do with your very nice speakers. They really are a great product.
  13. I am pretty sure that the stickers have been replaced by proper markings
  14. Thanks @Kirby66, but I am very happy being one of many satisfied Stack Audio customers in Australia. I am getting on, but I still really admire and appreciate genuine people who are passionate about the products which they have developed and who care about their customers and customer service, and that pretty much describes Theo and Josh from Stack Audio.
  15. Disappointing about the M14 adaptors, but good to hear that you got a great response from Josh, and that replacement parts are on the way. I and many others have found as you have - customer service with Stack Audio is always excellent
  16. Fair point - I covered my backside a bit with "If the system remains unchanged and all of the components are working as designed etc", but yes, outside factors may certainly affect a system. One of the reasons why I and many others use component isolators etc. We have certainly diverted from the OP's original question haven't we.
  17. Lovely speakers and associated components, and a great room.
  18. We love Ming Ming. Conditions are still pretty good down our way (Coffs Harbour/Sawtell). Seas are pretty big and rough, big wind gusts and heavy, squally showers, but much more concerned for people further north in NSW and Southern Queensland - our thoughts are with all of you. Yes, good advice - doing that this morning as storms are possible anytime from now on.
  19. What a great little dog. Is she going to sit up with you tonight, to watch "Muster Dogs:Collies and Kelpies" at 7:30 pm on ABC TV?
  20. With three main choices of itinerary to drive from Adelaide to Byron Bay (and only 80 kms difference between the longest vs the shortest option), maybe a stopover at @Silver Audiophile's place might be worth consideration? Not just to listen to his different DACs, but what about those Duntechs, and those valve amps? I better stop, before I get into trouble.
  21. Agree with the other comments above - @Silver Audiophile, @Keith_W, and @David A. Worth considering all of these options. Can you do as @Silver Audiophile asks, and send a few more photos of your room, just in case there are other options which it might be worth considering? Unless of course you feel that the present setup (with adjustments) is the one you would like to work with, in which case play around with what @Keith_W has suggested - he is widely considered here on StereoNET as a guru in looking at the issues/situation which you raised. Have fun experimenting. When you find what works well, and have got things where you want them, @BugPowderDust's suggestion is worth looking at too I think..
  22. Len Wallis Audio in Sydney has a second hand CD6007 for sale here on StereoNET. Good people to deal with - may be worth a look?
  23. Actually, I didn't comment on it at all ......... and won't. People whose knowledge of audio I greatly respect have their views. No doubt you have your view. Whatever view others have on this is for them to have - either way. And nothing to do with me.
