  1. I am conducting a few movements of this beautiful work at my school later in the year - could be the first time any of the choirs have sung in Estonian so it will be lots of fun! A great CD, beautifully recorded by Hyperion engineers (as expected) and full of 'should-be-performed-more' repertoire.
  2. This was my first recording of Mahler 2 as well and the final 11 minutes just blew me away. I now own 26 difference recordings! Chorusmastering this is such a delight - hopefully Warren has the MSO Chorus off book as it makes such a difference when the first chorus 'Aufersteh'n' enters! FWIW - bar 728 in the final movement made me fall in love with orchestral music. Enjoy the MSO performance!
  3. Deleted as I stuffed up! Apologies to the seller!
  4. Thanks so much, congratulations on the move! Still can't see any distributor here in Australia - have sent A2A an email but not heard back. Interesting to hear about the Wiim - given me food for thought! Cheers!
  5. So............... What do you think?
  6. I remember pitching it to Ronald V years ago when I was working with the MSO Chorus as I too just wanted to hear the MSO give it a good crack! Sadly nothing came of that meeting!
  7. A very fine reading of the Fauré indeed.
  8. I just love Kirsty's artwork for these - if you don't know about her - follow this link! https://www.kirstymatheson.com/print-shop-1/dunedin-season-concerts-202324
  9. Having spent the day playing and rehearsing musical theatres numbers, I've rewarded myself with a decent White Russian and this absolute scamp of a piece just to clear the head before bed! Due to time of day we're listening via Focal headphones tonight but still.....it's just a frightening piece. Perfect.
  10. Looking forward to your findings! Where did you order your Fiio from?
  11. Curious to know your thoughts on this? With the Wiim Ultra also in the mix, there's some great choices!
  12. University nostalgia - playing Varèse was incredibly challenging yet exciting!
  13. Nicely done, some rather annoying trumpet notes at the end of phrases spoiled it for me, especially in the first movement. Yep, I'm that picky!
  14. 9000 UK pounds? Christ it'll cost 2.4million here in Sydney!
  15. Despite a mega investment over time on CDs, storage, streaming etc, I’ve decided to dip my toes back into vinyl. God I’ve missed the absolute charm of it! First up to try things out, Howells and some quartets. Bliss
  16. If I wasn’t going through a divorce I’ve have snapped it up
  17. One of my favourite choral albums - the friendship between Pärt and Kaljuste really helps these recordings
  18. For classical music fans, organ fans or people who like to give their headphones/speakers a good run, then can I highly recommend this album that has just been released, featuring one of the world’s top choirs and a French organ that is both masterfully played and rich in dynamics and colour! Cost me just AU$12.50(!!!) thanks to Qobuz sublime, downloaded automatically onto my Innuos and in Roon within a minute, in 192kHz delight
  19. Thanks for that, I seem to remember getting excited about the chance to upgrade but probably won't anymore. I had the same issue with my Lyngdorf amp with getting an upgraded module, it had to go all the way to Denmark for factory installation and they wanted $1700. Nope. Sad face.
  20. Give Selby Accoustics (Thornbury, VIC) a call and ask. I enquired last year but can't remember exactly I'm afraid. 03 9999 7717
  21. Pm'd with intend to splash some pre-chrissy cash
