I'm certainly happy to read your impressions of the Adelaide Speakers and your music system..........you should keep sharing with us.Cheers, Keith The $$$ I spent on my current MUSIC setup $1800 on AV AMP, $900 on CD player and $1500 on Main Speakers is FANTASTIC for what I am HEARing. AND .... ALL that matters with music for ME is what I think is GOOD or GREAT for MY EARS. SOUND is in the EAR of the beholder! NOT SO DISAPPOINTED, RIGHT NOW!
ronascension Posted October 31, 2010 Author Posted October 31, 2010 Its a great sunday for playing music. AND .... that is WHAT it is ALL about ..... Enjoying MUSIC.

buzzomatic Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 I got a new album yesterday, Sepultura - Roots. As a metal album it's a bit of an oddity - a compilation of thrash metal, nu-metal and world music. So last night, after playing some early Sodom and early Sepultura, I figured I'd put Roots on. It was insane. Heavy low tuned guitar distortion combined with various artists playing drums or bass, there are some tracks on this album that make it feel like you're being punched in the guts. Never mind the acoustic guitar tracks, I never knew you could even do that to a guitar. Despite being a primarily nu-metal-ish album, this thing is fantastically intense. I mean, who ends an album with 13 minutes of gunfire and bongos? I'm lucky nobody called the cops. I've had my Summoners for just over three weeks now, and I'm very happy with them - I think the only place to go from here is to get one of those SGR 18" subs...
Phantom Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 It must be great having EDWARD so close to Ron's place, he can just nip down there anytime and see how everything is progressing. I have yet to visit a speaker manufacturing facility, but I reckon it would be interesting, so it must be happy days for an audio enthusiast to have a friendly guy like Edward just down the road. Personal service is rare these days,so it seems Ron has hit the jackpot. P.
Tony M Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Just havin some fun, but I'll bet you $100 NGM I've confirmed with Andy that he has had NO involvement with or knowledge of this thread. You can take that as FACT. He did say, though, not to accept the $$. He suggested you have a few drinks on him instead and listen to some music. Sounds like a good idea to me. Cheers Tony
Grumpy Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 I'm back and I just want to say that if you didn't know already, that it was I who copped a 24 hour ban for something I said in this thread, BUT I want to tell you the ban had nothing to do with comments about these speakers or about any of the posters in this thread. I'm not that type of person to publicly put down someone elses systems or them personally . It was a matter between a Moderator and myself - nothing, I repeat nothing, to do with Adelaide speakers or their owners. Thanks and I hope the Mods allow this to stay posted.
cheekyboy Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Good to see you back Grumps and I for one knew you would not have said anything nasty about the Adelaide speakers and I hope everyone seeing your suspension, did not come to the conclusion that you had. Perhaps it would have been a good idea to actually explain how you offended, so there could be no misunderstanding. All the best anyway mate. Cheers, Keith

We'll wait and see - thanks for your support PS. I actually wrote a glowing report about the Adelaide speakers that i heard on Saturday for this thread, but I got suspended before i could post it.

I know Grumps, you told me by email you had written a glowing report about the Adelaide speakers you heard............pity we didn't see that as it would have been refreshing amongst so much negative comment that has been made about Adelaide speakers. Are you still going to post it, as I think it would be a good read? You gave me an outline of what had you suspended and I must say, I thought it was a pretty innocuous remark really. Especially when you consider all the other shite that was written about Adelaide speakers, a lot of which still remains, plus all the rest that went unpunished.................all of which I reckon, was far worse than your remark Grumps. Anyhow, just try and put it behind you mate and don't worry about it. Get on with writing that positive review for the Adelaide speakers instead!! Cheers, Keith
Keith_W Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Some posts were removed. There will be more 24 hour suspensions handed out if this continues. Get back on topic or take it to PM.

I was just curious about why you changed part of my quote into caps. I was not shouting in my post and to change my post to try and make it something that it is not, is not acceptable. Also, I am not looking to buy or audition speakers at the moment. I was just saying that it is good for Ron that he lives so close by and is able to easily drop in to audition some speakers, from AS, something that not many of us can do. I hope you can quote me correctly next time I am addressing a post to another member. Thanks for your understanding. P.

I didn't change your posts into caps ( shouting ). I changed the font to highlight the section of your post that I was responding to. Some people use bold type and some change the font as the effect is similar. I left the rest of you post in place for context. As for auditioning speakers...I wasn't suggesting that your were interested in audtioning, but you did state that you would find it interesting. So I mearly pointed out that Edward probably be happy to show you his setup if you wanted to see, but as mentioned, he works from a house as opposed to a specialised workshop. Cheers G

Yep, that's a classic seminal heavy record. Not sure of many other albums that can sound so brutal yet still so good at very high volumes.

I feel very lucky to live so near to someone who makes Speakers 10 minutes down the road from me.
peterpan Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I feel very lucky to live so near to someone who makes Speakers 10 minutes down the road from me. ron you are indeed lucky and edward has obviously looked after you very well. i think i missed the point of all the hoo ha and innuendo but if i had a guy who made speakers and was up the road from me, id be around all the time and letting other people know about his services if he looked after me and i was happy with his service. i have not listened to any of his stuff as im happy with what i have but might make a point to listen to them if i get an opportunity one day.
buzzomatic Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Hmm, today was very interesting, very interesting indeed. First, a friend came around with a pair of 4" Fostex full range drivers in a transmission line box, these things are actually astoundingly efficient, and completely brutal through the mid and high ranges. Problem is bass, even with the enclosure designed to enhance the bass output, the 4" driver just isn't up to much in that area. Compared to my Summoners they absolutely shouted, but combined with the Summoners (as an ad-hoc sub), they actually sounded quite nice. Then I got out my LSK M6s, to compare to the Summoners, and was quite pleasantly surprised to find that they would make good 'mains' with a sub - even if the low bass was a little bit boomy thanks to the ported design. After that I pulled my LSK F6s out and did the same thing, listened to the Summoners switched to the F6s, then listened to them together. On their own, these speakers are somewhat poor sounding compared to the M6s, as they don't have quite enough treble, the same 6" driver and tweeter is used in the M6, but now that there's a second driver, the tweeter doesn't pack the same punch. They also don't sound as good through the mids as the M6, could be there's just too much of it, I'm not quite sure. But one thing is for sure, they sound just about awful when dealing with heavy crunchy guitar sounds. Instead of producing a nice smooth sound, they seem to have spots where the sound just goes mental and you end up with twice as much guitar as there should be. I think part of the problem is poor cabinet dampening, the LSK kit provides instructions on how to best dampen the speakers, but I really don't think it's enough, just a single piece of foam the height of the three drivers wrapping its way around the cabinet walls from the left, along the back, and along the right. So what have I learned from this? Well, the Summoners sound amazing in comparison to everything I compared it to today, but I think they could use just a tad more in the mid range to really knock those guitar sounds out. Oh, I've also been using them as part of my bass guitar amp, the neighbours love it, if anyone asks
ronascension Posted November 8, 2010 Author Posted November 8, 2010 I also have the Summoner 1093 with SB Acoustic midrange and tweeter. I find the midrange is very warm with guitar and vocals (both male and female) I am running a Marantz SR7002 which I find is warmer than the Cambridge (I found midrange and highs a bit harsh for my ears). Also find a different sound between using optical, coax and analog. Are you running your mac as the source of music? If so, using optical, rca, 3.5mm????? I found when I was using my computer for music source it wasn't as good as a Good CD player - which I am using NOW.
buzzomatic Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Yeah, my mac is my only source, it contains more than 12 days of music, and yes, I am using the 3.5mm jack (shame shame!). I'm working on rectifying that situation right now, with the purchase of a power amp and a DAC. Don't get me wrong, the mid range of my Summoners is frankly outstanding compared to anything I've ever owned, but I think it could be slightly better still.
