ehtcom Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 (edited) Item: Modded Fostex FE206e drivers in Dallas II back horns Location: Tootgarook. VIC. (Mornington Peninsula) Item Condition: Good (Plywood finish, not veneer) Reason for selling: Maybe some Lowthers are on the way Price: SOLD Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal (+3%), Bank transfer Extra Info: Due to size. Pickup only. I am willing to drive and meet halfway, say 2hrs at most. Whilst they may not be very wife friendly , these are very nice sounding speakers that can create a massive sound. They a extremely efficient and will go very loud with just a couple of watts. Would be a perfect match for say, ummm, Leben, or other low powered valve amps like a S.E.T. Pictures: Below, the Dallas II's are the larger of the horns in the picture, the Buschhorn being the smaller. Item: Tang-band 4" bamboo drivers in Buschhorn Mk2 Location: Tootgarook. VIC. (Mornington Peninsula) Item Condition: Good (Veneer finish with some small marks) Reason for selling: Maybe some Lowthers are on the way Price: $600.00 Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal (+3%), Bank transfer Extra Info: Due to size. Pickup only. I am willing to drive and meet halfway, say 2hrs at most . These smaller horns are a bit more wife friendly Don't be put off by the small 4" full-range driver, these speakers create a sound much bigger than their small size would suggest. The biggest bass I have heard from a 4" driver to date. They are designed to use the rear wall / corner of your room to "extend" the rear firing horn. They will go pretty loud with around 6 or 7 watts. Also a perfect match for a Leben, or other low powered valve amps or S.E.T's. Pictures: Below, the Dallas II's are the larger of the horns in the picture, the Buschhorn being the smaller. Edited March 30, 2011 by ehtcom

ehtcom Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 (edited) I'd offer to send them up, but they weigh a tonne, sand filled in the voids You may just have to plan a trip south, they really do sound nice, if you pick them up I'll throw in a pair of nice 4" twin cone drivers, see below. kunalraiker Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I have heard both the pair, and can vouch for their sound. All the Best with the sale Earle. Very Tempting, but have to save for those Harbeths
MrBurns84 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 For those who want to try out horn speakers this is a great chance to get some and save you the hassle of building them. BLH's have sublime midrange and vocals sound real with lots of air, especially with tube amps and one thats well built like a Tempest.

MrBurns84 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 JD, grab a cheap flight down to Melb. Hire a minivan, drive down to Tootgarook. Say hello to Earle, hope earle will host and put on a bbq for ya Listen and pick up speakers. Cruise all the way back to Syd
PorkBun69s Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Hi Earle, Can you post HxWxD's and weight for the Dallas? Also, are they sand filled? In what way are those Fostex's modified?
ehtcom Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 Hi katattack. Dimensions are 1220mm high x 320mm wide x 450mm deep. Weight is close to 40kg each. The voids have been packed with foam. (sand was going to make them too heavy) The Fostex drivers have timber phase plugs. The chassis wired to the neg terminal. Chassis frame and magnet have been treated with heavy felt. Main cone has felt plugs to tame the mids a bit. The whizzer cone has a mild form of enabling to tame the top end. Cheers, Earle.
valvelover Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Good luck with the sale Earle. If only I lived not far from mornington...sadly, I'm poor and far too far away, otherwise I'd snap them up in a jiffy.
MrBurns84 Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 GB, Just get it will ya so I can get mine back and pack em off to Bendigo!
Nickelle Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Hi Earle, what size are the Buschhorn? Are they sand filled? Will they suit the 300b when it arrives? Regards, Nick
ehtcom Posted March 19, 2011 Author Posted March 19, 2011 Hi Nick. I'll get the tape measure out tomorrow, yes they are sand filled (in the voids), and yes a very nice match for a 300B amp Cheers, Earle.
ayou2 Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 So you are offering two different sets of smaller woofered speakers for $600 ??
ehtcom Posted March 19, 2011 Author Posted March 19, 2011 So you are offering two different sets of smaller woofered speakers for $600 ?? Nope, just the one pair, the Buschhorns which have a 4" Tang-Band bamboo extended range driver installed.
ehtcom Posted March 19, 2011 Author Posted March 19, 2011 I now see where you picked up on the second pair of speakers. I've edited the above post to read, I'll throw in a pair of nice 4" twin cone drivers. (added the word drivers to clear things up) So yes, the Buschhorns will include the second pair of 4" drivers. Cheers, Earle.

Cruise all the way back to Syd I'm still considering it.....gotta see how work plays out over the next coupla weeks.
ehtcom Posted March 22, 2011 Author Posted March 22, 2011 Hi John. If I've still got them later in the year, when the Bathurst GTG is on, I could bring them up. Bathurst is a bit closer than Tootgarook Cheers, Earle.
PorkBun69s Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 (edited) Just wanted to say a few kind words about Earle. He was kind enough to drop off the Dallas 2 horns at my place this evening along with the Tune preamp. We spent a while setting it up and discussing our interests in speakers, amps and the effort that just goes into the chasis build of his amps!! The Tune pre just complimented the current model of Tempest that I have and offered enough flexibility (passive tone controls which can be bypassed) to just tailor the sound to suit a variety of music that I normally listen to. Earle has been a great guy to deal with and this just re-affirms me that we need to keep supporting our local guys. Keep up the good work! GB Edited June 8, 2011 by katattack74

I doubt Jetstar would let me check each speaker in as baggage. Boooo.
ehtcom Posted March 30, 2011 Author Posted March 30, 2011 Thanks GB, glad to see the horns (an tune) going to a nice home Now, how can we get those Buschhorns as carry on JD?
