likwidsh0k Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 (edited) Warning: lengthy technical post ahead that will bore most of you to tears. For the brave and the ultra-hip, read on. What follows is a tutorial on how to setup and configure your Squeezebox, including external tools like MusicIP, SoftSqueeze, and Moose. >>> Squeezing The Most Out Of Your Squeezebox Thought it might be handy to have a single resource with everything you need, and found that excellent in-depth guide that covers.. Last.fm - build an online profile of your musical tastes for recommendations that can be played through your SB MusicIP - create playlists based on analysis of your own music library MediaMonkey - manage your music, tags, album art etc. Foobar2000 - PC music player with last.fm profile plugin More useful tools Album Catalog Creator - create a html catalog of your music Post any useful tools or tips and see if we can make this the one thread with everything you need for getting the most out of the Squeezebox! wolster Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Good idea for a thread, L. I have recommended Last FM on here before but, for some reason, it has stopped working for me after I changed to my new squeezebox. You have reminded me to get it fixed. Cheers wolster
markm1111 Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Thanks shok, great idea. Will read with interest. Particularly interested in anyone with some good ideas on how to manage flac files and tagging when you get files from several different sources all with different tagging structures - not too keen on updating them all individually!
hired goon Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 G'day, Particularly interested in anyone with some good ideas on how to manage flac files and tagging when you get files from several different sources all with different tagging structures - not too keen on updating them all individually! likwidsh0k Posted September 17, 2009 Author Posted September 17, 2009 Good idea for a thread, L. I have recommended Last FM on here before but, for some reason, it has stopped working for me after I changed to my new squeezebox. You have reminded me to get it fixed. Cheers wolster Actually it was from your recent last.fm stopped working thread that I first did some searching for last.fm and found out about the scrobbler.. stupid name but bloody brilliant idea!
Itsmoi Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Thanks for the reminder about Scrobbler. Been trying for ages to get it to work but it wouldn't play ball . Always kept complaining something about timezones, but this time pursued it a bit more and it turned out the timezone on my homeserver was wrong. Displayed time was allright, but timezone was set to America somewhere, nfi why though. All fixed now and now tracks played on the SB are getting scrobbled finally to my Last FM account. No particular reason to do so really for me, but just happy it is finally happening
likwidsh0k Posted September 17, 2009 Author Posted September 17, 2009 G'day,Tag&Rename is your friend. --Geoff Looks good HG, but a 30 day trial and then your friend hits you up for a 'loan' of 30 bucks I haven't used MediaMonkey much yet but looks to have similar tools for free.. anyone used both?
hired goon Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 G'day, Looks good HG, but a 30 day trial and then your friend hits you up for a 'loan' of 30 bucks US$30 well spent IMHO. I must try Media Monkey one day ... --Geoff
markm1111 Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 G'day,Tag&Rename is your friend. --Geoff Cheers Geoff, that looks like the ticket! I should be able to sort out my mess in 30 days anyway - after that I have dbpoweramp. BTW, anyone know if there is similar fuinctionality in dbpoweramp? I have looked but couldn't quite figure it out if it is there
bingo Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Thanks for the tips guys. I finally got around to using the Album Catalogue thing above and am impressed and happy indeed. Also a great way to audit your tagging and album cover art ! Got a question that I hope someone can help me with. Anybody know of a way to scan your music directory and highlight any folders/albums that dont have ReplayGain tags ? cheers

Anybody know of a way to scan your music directory and highlight any folders/albums that dont have ReplayGain tags ? cheers Yup Album Catalog is very handy Still learning MediaMonkey but it can show track and album volume.. Sorting by track volume would get a list of albums with/without replay gain.. bit clumsy though because it re-arranges the album order, but if you only have a few with or without might make them easy to spot?
bingo Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 A BIIIGGG thankyou That will do me very well..MediaMonkey here I come !

Very glad to hear that you found it to be a helpful guide! Hi Jordan, welcome to SNA.. No thank you very much for the incredibly detailed, informative and helpful guide.. bloody brilliant Just picked up a new CD player and can at last go through the 50 odd CDs that wouldn't play ball with EAC on my DVD player, and now looking forward to finally setting it all up properly. Really keen to see what MusicIP can do. Gonna rebuild XP at the same time which is loong overdue... fun... NOT Thanks again for the brilliant guide!
