I recently had a number of items fixed/restored by Tim at Tuned in Audio in Hornsby.

I found him easy to talk to, ethical and had a quick response if you leave a message. The quality of his work is first rate and he goes the extra mile.

Highly recommended.

I'm looking for someone who could repair an Infinity RS4/B floorstanding speaker for me in the Ulladulla area.

One of the pair has had a dodgy bit of work done on it in the past which is the reason I've managed to pick them up relatively cheaply.

I'm toying with the idea of repairing it myself but the sound from the still operational one is so good I'd prefer someone who knows what they're doing do it for me so I can be assured I'm getting the best sound from them.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi All,

Does anyone have any suggestions for the above deck repairs?

The Kenwood sounds like it's drive belt, not an electronic issue.

The Yamaha is a bit more worse for wear and the head(s) definitely needs heads repairing/replacing.

Grateful for any referrals or suggestions on DIY.

Cheers, David.

Hi All,

I contacted Tech Workshops who used to service this beast when it was on active duty in the 90's, they said they don't touch cassette-based formats due to a constant lack of spare parts.

I think it would be a drive belt after decades of sitting around but I'd love to get it working as I've a lot of archival band projects I'd like to retrieve from the 4-Track double-speed cassette.

I've recently been using the mixer section of it and the electronics are surprisingly fine, faders and pots work fine, just the tape transport that doesn't.

Grateful for any referrals or suggestions on DIY.

Cheers, David.

I have 2 PSA S3600i subs, one of the Icepower amp modules has died. Fuse looks good, does anyone know where I might be able to get this repaired in Australia?

Thanks.

Probably best speaking with Peter at DeepHZ. Suspect you'll need a new module from the US.

A mate has a Project turntable that it would appear requires the tonearm bearings either oiled and adjusted or replaced.

Has anyone had any experience, either good or bad, with repairers in Adelaide.

I've searched the forums and the latest suggestions I could find were ten years old!

Cheers,

Trevor

Yep, I've spoken to Peter - he doesn't carry spares (and they are out of warranty).

Tom from PSA is trying to find a refurb module for me but not sure how long that will take. If I can get this one fixed in the meantime I was thinking I'll keep the other as a spare.

Thanks. That was one place that was mentioned in a post from a few years ago. Had a look at their website, they only have a contact form on the site no physical address or phone number.

There is Mr Thorens who is a member here but I can't seem to tag him for some reason.

The best repairer I know of is Bill Crampton ACT. http://www.thefactoryaudio.com/

He is sometimes in high demand and  can be hard to get hold of, persistence required.

Ken

On the other hand he’s gone broke twice, meaning customer

hi all, I am the lucky owner of a museum condition quad ii pre amp plus two power amps with the matching esl 57 speakers all with original brochures etc. I have had the amps serviced by my local tube amp expert with great results but unfortunately the electro static speakers were outside his expertise. Im In Adelaide and I really wanted to hear this system sing, but I'm starting to think it may be better off in the hands of a serious collector. shipping the bulky speakers to eastern states for repair and back seems extreme. does anyone know any repair experts in Adelaide? they both work but low volume and some distortion. I would love to fix but if that's too hard does anyone have any suggestion as to how best to find the right buyer? ie sell amps and speakers separately or together etc? any advice appreciated, j

Luke runs The Beatbox record store on Beach Road Christies Beach  - he also fixes turntables and has a great rep - he prepped my old HMV unit for sale -  highly recommended

On another note - the right channel in my Marantz 140 has ceased working and now just delivers a mild hum - any recommendations in Radelaide? I have been using Force Electronics who are great but looking at other options

Hi Brains Trust,

I'm looking to get my Meridian GO6 CD player repaired somewhere in Sydney. Can anyone recommend a tech? It's intermittently reading cd's and may just need a laser clean?

Thanks everyone.

Ian.

This Meridian is using a DVD-ROM. It can just be replaced with another one which you can pick up for $30.

Thank you, I would love to send it to you for a service etc but the postage is just too bloody expensive. The CD80 you sold me is still doing a sterling job!

Thank you for your kind words.

Tony at Tivoli Audio is very good, but these big, dealer places, normally charge $150 to open a box up and give you a quote. I do not know what Tivoli charges, but here in Perth you could expect that kind of charge for a quote (if you do not proceed).
