bbg9507 Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Thank you very much for your information matakivi. I imported 63 pair with stand from usa that are not working, making strange noise. I hope I could repair them soon. Bob
matakivi Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 No worries, if you need help just PM me. At least I know a lot what not to do with DIY-electrostatics Attached a picture of my ESL-project... Good luck with the repair, sounds like you have a HV-leakage on yours and need to replace the Mylar-films. Attached files
Owen Y Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Hi matakivi, ESLs is something that has been featured on our DIY forums (to my knowledge). Perhaps you could post some pics & history of your project on the DIY forum pages, for budding ESL DIYers?
Statsman Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I recently had my Epson projector repaired by Gordon and got good service from him. (04) 9394473
TheBlueMushroom1553552749 Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Second here for Peter Boland for speaker repair. He's based out of Waihi and the only issue could be his health isn't the best, so can take a little time completing a repair-but does excellent work and for a reasonable price He's in the whitepages.
Declannz Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 http://www.valveaudio.co.nz/ This is a guy called Greg, based in Upper Hutt. He's a military trained genius tech that takes a huge amount of pride in the work he does, and with good reason. I try and do what I can with my own gear because at least I know what parts are being used and can do fairly good work, but when I get stuck or want a piece to really shine, it goes to Greg. He's a mate of mine, but I'd be saying he was great even if he wasn't a friend. He specialises in tube stuff but is excellent at SS gear as well. Also does great woodwork and some speaker repair.
drbob67 Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 re: recommended repairer in wellington (jakenz) ...not quite a recomendation but stay away from ATS in Newlands they have had my amp for 3 months now it took 4 phone calls and 3 visits to the shop just to get to talk to the tech , only to be told he hadn't started yet as he could not find a service manual for it ...did a google of the model number and it came up at the top of the page 1st try ...e-mailed it to him...6 weeks later still have not heard back.. maybe try W.t.audio in the hutt or buzz in thorndon...Rob

Guest itwasonly$60luv Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Mark Brumby, Auckland, at AudioMark (09) 529 5455, especially speaker repairs, but has also upgraded my Quad 405, plus a refurb on FM4 Quad, and is magic for sensible advice - as in 'christ no, dont buy that' Kaleidoscope Wellington, looks like a dodgy TV repair shop, but aligned a philips transport, and fixed switches on valve pre-amp. All very prompt and cheap.
